Many thanks - A bit of an unexpected arrival that one as I wasn't aware there was any other rolling stock coming from Snibston. Perhaps an early contender for the new restoration workshop?

Called in at the Heritage Centre yesterday after visiting the GCR Model Gala.
Work is continuing to fit out the new workshop, though no sign of any trackwork appearing as yet, though efforts are apparently underway to source the materials from elsewhere as the track that was supposed to come from Snibston may not actually appear now. Once the track is laid into the new building, the tar tank wagon will be the first vehicle to be restored in there.
Apparently, there is a good chance that another significant (already restored) exhibit will be taking up residence there later on, but you'll have to wait for details of that one...........

Their Facebook page indicates that they have raised over half of the money for the current appeal to fit out the enlarged museum display area.
It also confirms they are getting a visit from the Duke of Gloucester next week (not 71000......), so that's 2 royal visitors in 2.5 years!

Paid a visit to the centre today, having been invited to the Duke of Gloucesters visit there this morning.
Contrary to what was mentioned earler in this thread, the ex BR narrow-gauge loco is actually still there. It was suggested the owner hasn't got anywhere to put it at the moment, so the "narrow-gauge "fleet" consists of two locos now (and about 4 wagons).
They have started restoration work on the tar tanker - outside at the moment, as track for the workshop area is still being sourced from a different location to Snibston........

Their latest Newsletter mentions that they have obtained some more narrow-gauge track and have now extended the line to form a loop to the west of the Railway Museum building. Presumably that also indicates that a lease has been sorted for the rest of the land within the old quarry area.

Track has apparently been purchased to lay into the workshop extension - i.e. it's not coming from the Snibston site after all, due to lack of progress on that front.
It should be being laid early in the New Year, which will enable the workshop floor to be finished off once the track is in place.
There could be an interesting development on the Narrow Gauge front next year as well, but you'll have to watch out for further news on that later!

Thanks again for the updates Johann, any idea where the track is coming from?

A dealer in such things, though they have been able to get a "reasonable" priced deal on the components, some of which seem to already be on site.
Still eye watering for someone, like me, who thought G Scale track had rocketed in price since I bought the track for my Garden Railway!!

Still no track in the shed extension but the original 2 line shed is now a very nice museum area with the Brush saddle tank, the 6 wheeler coach, a couple of 5 plank wagons and the MR brake van.
The narrow gauge track now is much longer, with a complete loop to the left side of the shed, linked around the back of the shed, to the original section, which is no longer a triangle. DSCF7248s.jpg DSCF7253s.jpg

I see the tar tank wagon has managed to sneak in to the "museum" section to enable work to be done on it undercover!

According to their latest e-newsletter that arrived today, another locomotive has been secured for display within the Museum display building. Details aren't given, but I believe it should be another one from Snibston, from what I was told last year - unless a different one has been offered in the meantime!

I've been advised that track is finally being laid into the workshop extension !
All parts of the layout are now to hand and the construction work is now under way.

The rails have now been laid in the Workshop building, though the concrete floor has still to be installed before the place can be brought fully into use. In addition, the pointwork that will link it to the rest of the site trackwork is currently taking shape.
I should be there next Saturday, so will take some photos of the work (unless anyone nearer beats me to it......).
I was sent a couple of photos of the work, but they are not mine to post!
