Would have been nice to have had a Bournemouth Belle header though...

Otherwise looking resplendent in the bright sunshine. A credit to WCRC.

Nice touch though that she is running with route discs , I prefer that to a Belle headboard as it only looks right when there's a Pullman train behind the loco . Hope everyone has a good day today

Was 150 the old NE BB loco roster? When I knew it best it was 434. Sorry not 35018 but 35008 IMG 85.17th May 1966 35008 Don Benn.jpg

BIL was taking it steady accelerating through Brookwood earlier. Seen her alive and breathing at last after many years of seeing her in various stages of restoration around Ropley. Nice touch with the route discs today. Hopefully will be back at Brookwood tonight for the water stop.

Whats the diesel on the back? if its the 33, would they have encountered each other at any time during 35018's service life before withdrawal ?

Speed restriction at Brookwood, you will find. 'Steadily' as required - 30 max.

A BB headboard on a train of non Pullman stock is a bit meaningless

Shame they couldn't turn out a clean engine for a train like the Bournemouth Belle. Those were the days.

Really great that the loco has passed its ancestral home after so much time - 55 years, is it?

But, pedant hat on. Today is no more the Bournemouth Belle than any other train that happens to pass through Bournemouth. Actually, it's the Weymouth Belle.

Agreed. But the original intention was Waterloo to Bournemouth. That's what we booked. NR forced the change but let's not diminish the day :)

That explains the slow pace. Thanks for that info. BIL not going as well as I expected her to be but glad that I have seen her in action at last. Does this restriction apply to just steam loco's as the electric units were not taking it easy?
