A blow, but, given the number of other projects on the go and lack of accommodation it may now get restored in the nearer future?

In more positive news, an update in the latest copy of "Driving Wheels" (arrived yesterday) says that the bogies and wheelsets for #228 are expected back from Nemesis Rail soon (the update says 'in the next month' but I'm guessing that was written before damnable plague struck) and that the bogies and wheelsets for #695 are to be extracted and sent to Nemesis for refurbishment.

Interesting - Wasn't expecting another set of bogies to be dealt with so quickly, though if Nemesis have the ability/capacity and the "price is right" it makes sense to get the work done now rather than wait unil the restoration of 228 is complete before moving on to the next coach.

Their website appears to have developed a security problem again and Firefox won't make a connection........(just in case anyone from the Trust reads this)

Building No.4- is that the half-finished carriage shed at Ruddington, or am I getting mixed up? (The one that in the latest copy of Driving Wheels the GCR-RST has said it would like to take on?)

It appears that trying to go to their website from the link on the GC RST FB page is the problem as I clicked on a link I posted further up this page and I got to their website without any problem!

Yes - Building 4 is the one that has been under construction for what seems like an eternity. I did post how long for another thread on here in the last 6 months but couldn't find it when I looked just now, but it must be a good 10 years or more (EDIT : Found it - Construction started in 2008......)
That appears to be down to GCR(N) to build - which seems to be the problem - but the GC RST have plans on their website for a display building of their own - Building 1A - as well.

Thanks Johann - a very interesting read and let us hope that the fresh GCR(N) team get Ruddington up and running soon!

Well, whatever it was, it seems to have gone. Premature news re Barnum perhaps? Although I’m sure it will be well cared for at Quainton, if that’s where it ends up, it will be a shame if we never see all four together.

That is very strange - it was quite a long report as well. Can't believe it would have been anything regarding the NRM Barnum disposal that has caused it to be withdrawn, given that it must be a good 18 months ago since that appeared on the SMG de-accession list, though the destination of very few of the rail items that were on there have been announced in that time. Think it was just "Handyman" and one of the wagons that was made public to date.

"Scaldwell"? I didn't think that was SMG owned. Do you mean 'Handyman'?

Even more obscure is the fact that the News item on their website about their new "Patron", which was previously issued and dated for last September has now become dated 4th February 2022......

I can't help wondering if there is some strange phenomenon of "The black hole of Ruddington" that any organisation based there seemingly loses the abillity to provide updates for their supporters !
