Hello all, I've owned this tool for many years. I have had suggestions it could be Military/Artillery related but also someone suggested Railway. Anybody seen anything like it or have any ideas?

    Thank you!

I wonder if it is some sort of Inspection gauge to check a dimension on a specific item?

My immediate thought is some form of wheel tyre wear gauge. The two studs touch the back of the tyre and the moveable part measures any hollow in the tread. Just a guess, though.
