Sorry I definitely will think about posting on a railway forum about a railway topic.

Very sorry, I just like Manor. Presumably there’s more than 3 available in the uk?

I think the current status of the surviving Manors is as follows- I could be wrong.

    Currently 7802, 7820, 7828 in traffic.

7822 is having bottom end work at Tyseley

7827 is having boiler work at Rileys I believe.

    7819- Engine House SVR
7812- Undergoing overhaul at SVR and Tyseley
    7808- Didcot out of ticket
7821- Swindon outlet still (I think) out of ticket.

Report of the work done on the DMU over the winter:

In the following three months volunteers have contributed over 100 man days and generated well in excess of 200 individual job sheets to provide an accurate Maintenance Record for the Company. Following BR's original DMU CL115 maintenance instructions this should have been completed in 6 man days - however, many long standing faults were discovered which needed urgent attention, all now fixed.

Guided by our Lead Engineer, with his enthusiasm and expert knowledge, new parts were built and fitted; blocked filters removed and replaced, electrical faults traced and fixed - the list goes on!

We will start the 2019 season with a properly maintained DMU with four engines working, heaters operating, vacuum and air leaks fixed, brakes in spec, all oils changed and grease applied everywhere it was needed. Some of the external corrosion has been treated and filled to remove sharp edges leaving obviously repainted patches - perhaps we could repaint the whole unit soon. We have deep cleaned passenger accommodation and completed some refurbishment within budgetary constraints.

For me, the dmu is definitely part of the WSR offer, and I sometimes plan my visits specifically to include a ride in her. I remember seeing, from behind the driver, a fox on the track. Back in the 80s a summer Saturday was a real dmu fest, and there were even people with suitcases, starting and ending their holidays!

From the photos I saw of the VofR locos in blue I didn't think much of it as a livery. I think they look much better in green. (but each to their own:)).
If all goes according to plan I'll be visiting the VofR later in the year. (last time I went was more years ago than I'd care to remember.)

I was involved in the NSE launch at Waterloo in 1986 but even I would baulk at that. 60’s green is fine, thank you.

The official website and timetable leaflet state today is a yellow timetable. But in actual fact they are running the blue timetable without telling anyone it has been changed, not even on their social media accounts.
How poor is that? Just hope nobody wants to travel on the 1725 Minehead-Bishops Lydeard.

As I understand it, the decision to change the timetable was taken yesterday afternoon when the DMU was taken out of service. All staff on duty today are aware of the changes and have been asked to advise passengers that the last train will not run as advertised. It's extremely unlikely that anyone will turn up just for the last train, but I expect that that will be covered by the staff at Minehead. I can only guess that social media has not been updated because there is no-one available to do it.

I went onto the cameras this morning to watch the 0925 departure from BL and it was immediately obvious that there wasn’t going to be one.

What impressed me was that the platforms were devoid of potential passengers, so the station staff were obviously doing a splendid job of intercepting those arriving and briefing them.

  19. Seems the diesel gala evening trains won't run after all. Lack of sufficient guards and signalmen apparently.

Evening session beer festival goers will have to use the 28 bus instead of travelling by train.

I am reliably informed by Buses of Somerset that bus times on their website will remain valid during the beer festival. Their forthcoming timetable changes do not affect the 28.

Ditto sounds as if it had got a little bit care worn. Such a shame the high Suburban seating makes viewing the superb Somerset countryside much harder than it should. I first got to like the WSR from the Park Royal because of the view from the unit even if the line was only open to Stogumber.
