So, 27 mins Appleby--Garsdale says RTT. If correct, that must be 17-18 mins over the Blue Riband section Ormside to Ais Gill. Seriously fast!

A believe the record for a single chimney locomotive is currently 46203 28th May 1994 (25 years ago plus one day!) - 18 minutes 41 seconds. I await @Oswald T Wistle 's gps file with great anticipation!

Friend on board quoted 52 across Mallerstang and 47 at Ais Gill Summit.

Whereas in the preservation era record run 46229 did 52 at Ais Gill Summit, 16m 26s on the total climb. So I reckon the single chimney record Ian refers to might have just fallen.

Interestingly I posted this on the Cumbrian Fellsman thread of 30th May 2015; also load 11 but all Mk1s:
......Speed hovered around 47/8 as the Brit thundered around Mallerstang, dropping slightly to 45 at the summit of the 1:100, rising to 47 past the summit board. The Brit then went on to flatten Wilpshire with 35 at the summit. Might be too wet to get close to that tonight.

Ah it's load 11 today, I mis-counted. Thought it was 12. No new single chimney Blue Riband record then!

Dandry Mire this morning. He was very generous with the use of the whistle. Britannia-(18)-casg.jpg
