    Found this on their site.

    https://www.nlr.org.uk/blog/extension-south-grant-news/

I have no association with this organisation, but find it strange that they have not posted on here or announced their grant situation on the holy grail. Facebook.

Where do they expect the £18k to come from?

    Thanks for posting this Daddsie71b.
It was also reported in Steam Railway and Heritage Railway magazines back in November.

We are appealing for donations to help make up the £18,000 we need to contribute. If anyone can help, please contact the NLR at societysecretary@nlr.org.uk or send cheques payable to ‘Northampton and Lamport Railway CIO’ to :
Southern Extension Appeal, Northampton and Lamport Railway, Pitsford and Brampton Station, Pitsford Road, Chapel Brampton, Northampton, NN6 8BA

Work has already started on the platform wall at Boughton. If anyone has any bricklaying experience and can lend a hand, even just one day, please do get in touch!
With over 200m to build (with a traditional blue brick face) there's plenty of work to share round!
There's a free family ticket and one year's membership in it for anyone that helps with the project.

The new single road loco running shed is also at an advanced stage, with 60% of the walls clad. The remaining cladding and roof should go on this weekend!

Follow our Facebook page for regular updates on progress.

If all goes well we hope to get the extension open for Spring 2020.

    Thanks :)

Just off to the right of the shot the boundary steps back and there is room for a modest building in the future. In the short term the station will have a short bay platform (again, off to the right) where some facilities can be provided in a stationary coach or van. There might be a small shelter on the platform in the future too.

    Thanks :)

The roof and walls of the new loco running shed are now complete! (photo credit: Adam Giles)
Just the doors to fit in the coming weeks.
Appropriately, the first loco into the shed was long-time resident 0-4-0 Peckett No.2104 (currently out of ticket). Her first time under cover in 35 years!

We are still appealing for donations to help meet our £18,000 match funding for the southern extension. If anyone can help, please contact the NLR at societysecretary@nlr.org.uk or send cheques payable to ‘Northampton and Lamport Railway CIO’ to :

    New steam loco at NLR

10th February 2019 saw the arrival of Irchester Quarries No.9 .

The engine’s new owner has relocated her from the Rushden Historic Transport Society in order to begin dismantling and inspection, ready for restoration to working condition.

Built in 1952 (Works No.2323), the engine was supplied new to Lackenby, near Grangetown, and was given the number 6.

In April 1964 the engine was relocated to Irchester Quarries, Northamptonshire. There was already an engine carrying the number 6 at Irchester, so the 0-4-0’s number plate was simply turned upside down to create the number 9, which it carried until withdrawal in July 1969.

Following closure of the quarries the engine was donated to Irchester Parish Council and was displayed in the village recreation ground from August of the same year.

In June 1979 the loco was moved to Wicksteed Park in Kettering, Northamptonshire, where it became the highlight of the childrens’ playground. After 13 years on display the engine was moved again to the Rushden Historical Transport Society in August 1992, where it remained unrestored until the present day.

The owner hopes to return the engine to working order in around 10 years, but a full inspection is yet to be carried out. It is planned to return as No.9, the number it carried at Irchester, but the livery is yet to be determined.

Anyone interested in the restoration can follow the Facebook page ‘Andrew Barclay 2323 Restoration’.

The running boards have taken some hefty knocks during its life!

    Good luck with the restoration

I can still remember playing on it at Wicksteed Park in the early 80s (when I was still at primary school).

    Bridge 11 Update
Work on Bridge 11 is due to commence in earnest on 3rd June. Preparations for that are well underway, with recent weeks seeing construction of a footpath diversion to bypass the bridge whilst it is closed. This involves constructing temporary steps down the embankment at both the north and south ends, as well as a temporary bridge over the brook.
The bypass also affords the public new views of the bridge which cannot be appreciated from walking across it.

STEAM LOCO to arrive at the NLR this week!
RSH 0-4-0 ST 'Eustace Forth', built in 1942 for Dunston Power Station, is due to arrive on loan on Thursday and will be in service this coming weekend. Owned by the 7063 Locomotive Group, she had previously been at the NYMR.
She is due to remain with us on loan for the rest of the year.

    Boughton Platform Update
Over the last few months there has been steady progress on construction of the new platform wall at Boughton. The photos below show work up to Sat 18th May.
    Boughton 18.05.19 -1.jpg Boughton 18.05.19 -2.jpg Boughton 18.05.19 -3.jpg

So far 1/3 of the platform has been built in 2 skins of blockwork, with the brick face following along behind.
Completion of this much blockwork is vital as it will allow waste spoil from Bridge 11 to be recycled as fill material to build up behind the platform wall in the next couple of weeks.

If you can help or want to get involved, please do get in touch - societysecretary@nlr.org.uk

    Bridge 11 update
Work is continuing on Bridge 11 in spite of the foul weather. Last Friday the concrete slabs were poured for 6 of the 8 'valley' sections. The complex contours of the bridge made this a very challenging job!
Today further concreting has been undertaken, starting on the in-fill 'arch' sections.
