I'm not sure that I see the point of your post Al? Moaning about not having any info on the trip yet stating it's sold out though. A sold out trip surely tells you it's a win win all round not only for Belmond but Clan Line and the MNLPS. I hope the Pullman trips keep selling out as mentioned so '28 can still keep strutting her stuff, eventually I'll get round to having a trip on one and I'll make sure she's on the front too.

To get at taste of the complexities of turning an engine out on a main-line charter, please have a read of the report on the 15th May trip to Bath and Bristol in the News section of the MNLPS website (www.clan-line.org.uk). Many would regard London to Bristol as a pretty 'straightforward' operation - and it went utterly smoothly - but the piece reveals that being a support crew member requires commitment, dedication and attention to detail to make it happen. It's only a hobby you know......!

In which case as I live in Wales I will no longer comment on any railway activity in Scotland or England. I will also remember to obtain my degree in advanced railway operation before I post anything further.

If this is how older 'enthusiasts' treat young volunteers on our heritage railways then our hobby is in serious trouble.

I recognised the tone, but what was it doing?

Private charter with the Pullman set. Pretty much normal times and route.

If it was a surprise how did you manage to set up for a video? I'm just jealous, as I live in Betchworth, saw the coaches pass from my garden and had no idea it was running! Couldn't find any reference to it anywhere and assumed it was 67-hauled.

I saw the timings and wondered what it was myself. The 'surprise' bit is the fact that it was indeed 35028 and not a Class 67, there was also rumours from fellow enthusiasts.

Just a couple of photos of Clan Line arriving back at Victoria station today after a round trip.

Clan Line is off to Stratford upon Avon on 10/7. RTT shows it returning from Oxford on the FL to Southall. Now that's rare.

Serviced but not turned as turning isn't necessary.
