Hurrah! I finally got mine by email today. Looks like I'm on the slow line.

Noted today 60163's tender outside Crewe HC on its own - presumably loco inside the maintenance building.

I think that might be Blue Peter’s tender

Tornado worked into Crewe recently and is doing a North Wales Coast job on May 4th.

It's Tornado's tender, not Blue Peters.

Must have been having something substantial done then if that was the case or is it a lack of room?

The Mad Hatter! Not a description of myself on this occasion but a very pleasant trip from York to Chester and return with Tornado yesterday. Having seen 60163 on several occasions but never travelled behind it, nor ever having visited Chester before, I decided to treat my friend and I to a 1st class experience and it was well worth it. I'm no good at guessing speed but 60163 seemed in fine form and we made excellent time through some stunning scenery. The coach staff, catering staff and A1 SLT personnel were excellent and it was a most delightful experience. I really do recommend it!

The official explanation from the A1 Steam Trust:

    “What’s in a name?

We have had some enquiries as to why yesterday’s train was called ‘The Mad Hatter’.

Travelling between Darlington and Chester, the train name reflects the Alice in Wonderland author’s connection to both Cheshire, where Lewis Carroll was born, and the North East, where he lived for part of his childhood.

That, and the fact that one must be a little bonkers to undertake the building of a steam locomotive – let alone do it twice! Check out p2steam.com for more information on this endeavour.”

I'm 99.9% sure this isn't running. Not sure why it's still showing on UK Steam.
