I think that's a look of surprise on the faces of the passengers on the Wolverhampton platform. The arrival of two locos certainly took me by surprise as I didn't know what to expect.
An hour later would have been nice - the sun is actually trying to come out now.

I would say that image is perfect as it is, the sun would spoil it for me, but that is just my own opinion of course.

Thanks; In retrospect it would spoil it for me too as the sun would be above the second lamp post from the left and so would be far too backlit. Interesting to see a run around the circuit in the opposite direction to previous ones.

45231 and 34046.JPG The somewhat Somerset and Dorset themed duo passing the former Oswestry branch junction at Gobowen this afternoon. 45231 doing all the work and the Bulleid just blowing off the whole way through the village!

A little late but a couple of shots of yesterdays double header Loco Services 5Z31, 08.19 Crewe to Coton Hill test run as they pass Stafford and then accelerating away from Rickerscote loop just south of Stafford. IMG_7147.JPG IMG_7161.JPG

44871? There isn’t much (anything?)else at Bury that’s main line registered currently, is there*?

    * not unless City of Wells has been kitted out with TPWS etc... a man can dream!

I think it must be. Presumably for GB12 on Tuesday - makes more sense than bringing 45407 back from FW.

Isn't 44871 at Carnforth already following The Citadel?

Don't they have a couple of mainline diesels? There's certainly a mainline Class 40.

No idea what one would be doing, though.

OK, a guess (and it is a guess, I can't check as it's no longer on RTT). What became of the coaching stock after The Citadel? Did that go to Bury or back to Carnforth? If the former, could it be that?

    Great shots.

Is that second one taken from the stile on Gravel Lane (assuming the crossing is still there!)?

Thanks. Yes and no. It is taken from where the stile used to be . The crossing was removed a number of years ago now. Just about managed to see over the palasade fencing that now runs the length of Gravel Lane.
