Unofficially told 9 is due to head to York tomorrow. It’s certainly worth trusting the Riley team if they say it’s going to make it...

I have now joined the works forum but posting is difficult. Anyone know how?

No problem now, all good. Asked about an update for what will happen to No.9 after the SRPS trip to Aberdeen.

N0.9's Facebook page have stated that there is a new problem with the loco and Saturday is in jeopardy.

For those without Facebook, I've copied and pasted the post below:

"Following repairs an issue has arisen which is now being rectified. It is hoped that Number 9 will travel to York tomorrow ready for it's planned working to Edinburgh on Saturday."

Not sure how that can be translated that Saturday's run "is in jeopardy"? Why does everyone try to read too much into things?

They haven’t stated it’s ‘in jeopardy’, they said this:

Sam 60103. That is your interpretation of what has been posted. The issue might not actually be with the locomotive and it is in the process of being resolved. It is expected No.9 will run to York tomorrow (Friday). Please try not to put a negative spin on things

About an hour ago was spotted on its own (no support coach) going over the M66 near Bury.

I know nothing but can I mention in passing that the inevitable 'paperwork' can sometimes get in the way of planned loco movements.

Indeed, that appears to be the outstanding issue. Ian Riley's latest post on The Works forum says, "We have been running the loco today, and she is good to go!...just need the paperwork [IMG]".

    • RTT now has a movement tomorrow Bury ELR to York NRM. The stated speed (99mph) looks interesting!

I don't know why but I presume gauging issues. There have been several steam loco movements by that roundabout route in the last few months.

I agree that it is most likely gauging, but wonder if there is also the facility to "top up" with water at Carnforth and/or Hellifield if required? In this case I cannot remember from my younger days how far a "Streak" could go on one tender full but it may be a consideration for such movements? Just a thought.
