No - your first comma is incorrect but the second one is correct.

Sorry, (comma) but get it correct next time.

The phrase 'and comment on' contains unessential words. They can be removed from the sentence without changing the sentence's overall meaning.

In such cases, commas should be placed at either end of the unessential words.

I think what John Rowley intended was probably "Where did my translation of, and comment on, Davo's post go?". Note the word "of" moved as well as the commas.

That's a very long day in prospect for the pax. Hopefully there will be some good running for them.

"Timed for 60mph max"? And six hours (four and a half net) from York to Edinburgh seems very slow, and ignominy for an A4.

That northbound path is poor. Tornado managed to run from Durham to Berwick and from Berwick to Edinburgh in one hit. OK there is a pick up at Newcastle but Berwick to Edinburgh has been done many times without a further stop yet this one has a pause at Drem.

Despite a few tweaks here and there, it's a broadly similar outward path to last December's run. A case of 'if it works, it works'. Steam out and back is fairly rare (done the distance between York-Edinburgh all of three times, with each run featuring steam one-way only) so I'm not going to complain too much. Just have to stock up on beer for the return!

If referring to the latest Tornado run on the 'Auld Reekie', bear in mind the significant timetable difference it would have experienced by running on a Sunday compared to No. 9's trip for a Saturday. That could dictate the Drem loop stop for the latter due to the half hourly Saturday Only service to North Berwick.

Point taken about Saturday v Sunday schedules. That final Drem stop is surprising though. Consider this. The running time from Berwick to Edinburgh excluding the 27 minute stop is 82 minutes for the 67 miles. Tornado managed that leg in 73 minutes including sitting at signals at Drem for 3 minutes.

So as @MellishR has said, it's a fairly leisurely schedule.

No update yet on No. 9's facebook page about Saturday. Anyone have inside information?
