I believe that the locos that brought ECS into Euston would often assist all the way up Camden bank and then drop off.

    Seems a tad petty.

Same at Leeds Central, with the Copley Hill J50's giving the pacifics (and 60872 - nearly always on the 10:10) a good shove out of the station, I think as far as Holbeck High Level.

According to RTT D6515 left Swanage at 1115 this morning but I saw a Type 33 passing Corfe Castle station on the railcam at 0820. Couldn't be sure that it was D6515 as it was obscured by the rake of coaches standing at the down platform. It would make sense to get it clear before the day's main event but where did it lay over as it didn't arrive at Worgret Junction until shortly before midday? Does Swanage Railway have access to Furzebrook sidings?

It's not unknown for NYMR trains to get a shove out of pl.3 at Grosmont but only as far as the starter. Nothing in the Sectional Appendix to allow pushing any further than that.

Laid over at the RRI 'over the road' at Norden until it was time for its main line outing.

D6515 and 33.029 arrived safely at Crewe this evening. The pair looked very good emerging from Twerton tunnel, on the outskirts of Bath. <BJ>

The banking at Swanage is as far as the section signal, the banking locomotive then returning under the control of the inner home.

Working for me at the moment but then it is midnight and a certain engine is not in view. Given the media coverage this has had I suspect weight of traffic is making camera access difficult. The railcam.uk servers are probably more used to concurrent viewer numbers in single or double digits on the Swanage cam. I suspect they are being hit with ten or a hundred times this traffic at times.

I think it’s jumping to conclusions somewhat to suggest that it has been disabled and for petty reasons. particularly as it’s not the most likely reason for you not being able to connect.

The publicity Scotsman is bringing the Railway is fantastic. Why would they want to suppress interest.

Great view from Canada this morning. As a life long supporter of the SR I do hope that your version of events is in fact correct. One realises that it is quite a journey from Project to Commercial Enterprise ;it is an amazing scene out there today.

Just seems strange that the Swanage webcam went down at almost exactly eight o'clock yesterday morning making it more likely that someone pulled the plug as opposed to the server being overwhelmed.

Any insights into how the timetable will change for the coming weekend? Intending to go down when hopefully the Flying Scotsman excitement is a little more subdued but as yet the website is showing old data on locomotives.

Does Flying Scotsman leave Swanage today, only looking on Railcam its support coach has been moved to the short platform line next to the water tower.

No, it's on static display at Corfe for 15 days starting today.
Believe it will run up L/E every morning and return at the end of the day, although given that the coach has been moved, there's always the possibility that FS will go to Corfe today and stay there.

The LE moves have been canceled and Scotsman & Support coach will now be stabled at Corfe Castle next to the Swanage Railway's Museum for the duration of the static display days. It will be in light steam.

Overall the operational days have been very successful. The trains were virtually sold out. Any thoughts that Flying Scotsman mania was dying out should be dismissed. Swanage was besieged! Local traders are reporting a big surge in business. The railway has made some useful cash and received some priceless publicity. The inevitable lineside trespassing was well controlled and everybody seemed very happy.

The static display days will now provide the public with a unique opportunity to see Flying Scotsman and Car14 together in the scenic village of Corfe Castle. There will be an exhibition in Car14 covering amongst other things the time that it toured America with Scotsman. Visitors will then walk through the tender corridor connection to the footplate where the loco will be in steam. More info here https://www.swanagerailway.co.uk/events/detail/flying-scotsman-static-days

This part of the Scotsmans stay is the NRM's (Science Museum's) way of providing greater public access to the loco and a more intimate experience. I have to say, from close up Scotsman is beautifully turned out and from the smallest stroke of the paint job to the last nut it is a credit to the work done and the people looking after it. It is a fantastic piece of machinery. As an artifact it does a great job capturing a golden era of British engineering and rail travel.

Well that's nicely confusing as the website was showing 80104 on the trains for today and we still have no idea of what is on what for Friday onwards.

Hopeful an accurate update will appear soon.
