Will there be a replacement loco or will the wtt be revamped?

Social media was promoting 1450 all being well as on the roster for the weekend this week .

WTT on the website still has Auto A and Auto B, loco allocations to follow.

Facebook post 24 February at 5:12 PM offered two autotrains including 1450.

Website and Facebook events page updates at 25 February say "we now think that repairs to GWR No. 1450 will not now be completed in time for the event". So assume not

Slight pity that 1501 is now running with the autocoach and not 7714.

I notice that the loco allocations have disappeared from the SVR website (they were there yesterday).

Puzzles belong in Kids Activity books. Will the diesel fraternity be made to decipher loco allocations like this in May? Top marks for trying to make something so simple so hard...

I seem to recall they did this for the Autumn Steam Gala a couple of years ago on the WTT, was a right PITA, I and I suspect others spent ages transferring numbers!

A few thoughts, none of them very original...

    1) I am certainly pleased with the selection of locos being used, especially the visiting large prairie. Seeing all these operating together will be the main attraction for me. I'm a bit sad that there'll only be one autotrain as I don't think I've ever managed to see two running on the same day, but the unavailability of 1450 can't be helped. Maybe it can happen in the future.

    2) I have to agree with people who think the timetable's a bit thin for an SVR gala. There's more to a gala than just the passenger workings I appreciate, but even so 7:09 p.m. seems disappointingly early for the end of services. On a normal summer Saturday it's only 14 minutes earlier! And the last round trip from Kidderminster is at barely 4:00 p.m. A contrast with last year, and a major contrast with spring 2017, when trains were still running well past 10:00 p.m.

    3) I feel Sunday may be busier relative to Saturday than sometimes, partly because of point 2 and partly because it looks like being wet all day on Saturday but not Sunday. That can change obviously, but at the moment Saturday looks wet all day. I'm thinking of choosing Sunday myself this year for those reasons.

Might as well have run the high season timetable. That is quite busy and offers similar length of running time.

Usual top notch SVR gala today. Every time I go to one it's always the scale that sets it apart from anything else you see. I know that there were some grumbles about the timetable and lack of evening running, but a good amount of thought had gone into the timetable and, unlike my experience at the ELR last week, it actually worked!

Shame about the Coal Tank failing, though it didn't affect me, or indeed timekeeping which was generally excellent. All the engines looked terrific, as did most of the carriages. Lots of people on the trains, but none were too crammed.

I had a quick look at the rearranged Engine House and like what has been done - for the first time ever I actually got some good pictures of the engines inside! Typhoon is an excellent exhibit and well worth a look for those who haven't got up close to a RHDR locomotive before.

And a big hooray for the Bridgnorth Refreshment Room and loos, which are streets ahead of their predecessors! Finally Bridgnorth is starting to feel like a station to be proud of.

Look forward to seeing the pictures and videos of this one, could only make tomorrow and the forecast looks horrendous - would be dangerous to attempt to get across from Mid-Wales. I hope some of the visitors stay for the open house weekend.
