None of the 1016XX fleet were used for departmental service, there were some Sandite sets at Longsight but they predate the 1990's 1016XX sets and were selected from various Blue/Grey and NSE vehicles.

    Victor,

Will the last unit be shot with a silver bullett then buried with an iron stake through its engine by you?

Something along the lines of the artificial reef they created using old NYC subway trains?

Chris Grayling could organise (o_O) that, run em all down to Ramsgate, load em on to a Seaborne \Ferry, and scuttle the lot off the French Coast. Job done.

    Edit.
    No, wait a minute,...................no Seaborne Freight ferry.:Banghead:

So who exactly do we want to upset the most - the inhabitants of Leeds or the fish?

No sign yet of an appeal to preserve one, they might make a good option for any preserved lines who want to consider a commuter service!

I think Pacers are the railway equivalent of a Marina. Not great, built down to a price, but did a job, and I don’t think they are as bad as people make out. I drove a Marina once and, yes, it wasn’t that good, but it wasn’t terrible either, and I occasionally travel on Pacers between Handforth and Stockport, and they’re not as good as an EMU but they do the job, and overshort runs aren’t too bad. I rate them better than the Metrolink trams anyhow.
