    Drag because it’s being dragged into place at the start of the trip. Wensleydale is different as its part of the trip and both locos will be working

    And when steam is on the back going to the start of the trip, it's never doing nothing, it's working, you ask any footplate or support crew.

    Quite right. Steam provided to keep up lubrication at the very least

    Happy about these developments. 7029, 4965 this. Like the 3-year deal with Rivera. Definitely see 71000 being added in years to come because of this.

    The diesel will be with us all day for multiple reasons including Riviera's coaches do not have operable steam heat.

    I will not be drawn into this debate (yet again).

    The tickets for Thursday 28th were sent in the 1st Class post on Friday, so you should have them today at the latest.

    Final test run for Clun to Stratford today.

    Have you got a date in mind when steam heat won't be a requirement so the DL won't be necessary Ben?

    Is that what the generator coach is eventually for or is for or just pre heating I wonder?
    (This is the Rivera one that went with the rest of the stock as mentioned earlier)

    In an ideal world where you are future proofing steam on the main line, it seems to me that:
    Heating = generator coach.
    Braking = air/dual.
    VT has already very wisely solved the third issue, i.e.:
    Water = GUV.

    So it will be interesting to see how the triumvirate of these unfold in due course. One thing you can be certain of is that VT will have thought it through.

    Yes definitely, I think that 3 are already becoming increasingly essential.

    In the VT Train Railtour Programme section this is under the heading 'The Locomotive Fleet':

    For 2019, Tyseley’s icon, Clun Castle, will spearhead the railtour schedule. Fresh from overhaul and its February test runs, Clun’s first public run since 1988 will be the Cotswold Explorer on March 9th.

    Where operational requirements apply, Tyseley’s Class 47 diesel locomotive (47 773) will join Clun Castle in ‘top and tail’ mode. Rood Ashton Hall will also be available and during the year it is planned to use visiting steam, diesel and electric power to head several VTL railtours. Schedules will be announced later.

    I guess any involvement of any Riviera Coaches will be such an operational requirement for braking as well as heating purposes.

    Would be good to know beforehand if the 1st CE will be operated in 'top and tail' mode; and indeed if any of the other trains in the programme will be.

    My reading from this is that there's possibly no genny available and the Riviera stock as stated above is non compliant with steam heat. So as long as there's Riviera stock in the consist, there will be a 47 in the mix ???
