According to my reading of the drawing lists in the GWR tender register the majority of parts were the same in both.

That's interesting Jim. Presumably this is why the GWS were able to use the inner ladder frame from a Collett tender for their Hawksworth one. Do you know why Hawksworth change the design of the outer frames?

By and large I've never found that sort of info, but there does appear to be plenty of repair welding on some surviving older design frames, and that was the 4th frame design used in the 20thC...

But the Hawksworth tender frames were a different shape to the Collett frames

The main frame-plates look at first glance to be completely different, but it's perhaps better to view them as modified/strengthened Collett frames. Like Jimc says, you do see a lot of welding on the older type frames. I do wonder if the jigs left over from the 8Fs had a part to play, although that might be a red herring.

It's easy to overthink this stuff I reckon. The one that amuses me is when people say the 8fs gave Hawksworth the idea of using full length frames on the mod Halls instead of Churchward's bar type extension frames, as if Hawksworth didn't have around 230 Stars, Castles and Kings to give him the idea ...

Is it still available now? In general, I'm always late for some such attractive offers for some reason, and I'm not lucky somehow in this. I even recently thought that some curse was put on me since lately I have been unlucky in everything surrounding me. Now I need to order some things for the house before the new year, but I am apprehensive because I am afraid that my parcel may get lost somewhere and the money will not be returned to me, since I often heard similar stories from my friends. In Google, I found that people are delighted with the china post package tracking service, and I'm thinking of ordering through this company. If someone has used their services here, please write me your opinion
