From those of us who could not get out to take videos and photos, thanks very much to those who did for so many great shots. But really how could you go wrong in that scenery, a good amount of sun and not too much wind......

Reminds me of your footage of 46115 in the snow (the soundtrack to which I still remember well now), almost 10 years to the day, but this time with sun!

    Sublime and bizarre today.

Sublime- the loco pairing, the nearly even time run Carnforth to Carlisle and Grayrigg to Shap in 11 min, plus Wilpshire as though it wasn't there.

Bizarre - a MN into Carlisle whilst an A4 works out of Victoria, WCML running to time and a special icicle watch for NR.

So why should NR expect a passenger train to check its infrastructure for hazards. Would ORR approve? Why didn't they send one of their own trains down to check. Damn cheek I say.

Why couldn’t NR do their own work? I hope they paid WCR

Good question, I wonder what happened if an icicle had been dislodged by one of the locos and damaged it? Even minor damage wouldn't have been cheap, both locos are fresh out the paintshop! We were down to 30mph through each tunnel. Certainly an unusual one!

Also potentially dangerous especially with a loaded passenger train with opening windows. I hope NR get fined
