Out of curiosity, I had a look at the timings on UKsteam.info. What struck me was the 04.35 departure from Southall - and if 60103 was ready to move at this unearthly hour, what ever time did the crew have to arrive? or get up? It certainly highlights the tremendous dedication of those at the sharp end of main line steam. Such an early start can't have been much fun, even given the reasonably benign weather conditions given it's January. Thank you, gentlemen, for your willingness regularly to get up at crazy o'clock in order that we can enjoy our hobby.

Crew change at Peterborough was likely.

Interesting to steam heat clearly in use. I thought DBC had not "done" SH for many years?

Also, can anyone say what stock was used, did not look like a Riviera set?

To put it another way, SRPS stock steam heat maintained in working order continuously.
Riviera not so much need for steam heat over the year.

No diesel on the back too :) I see that, unlike the Alan Pegler run, it didn't spend twenty-odd minutes slipping at the entrance to Stoke Tunnel this time! :Nailbiting:
