Might have a run over the Pennines on the train to Donny to see No.9 :)

I'll give you a wave as I pass through Donny then, John - I'm on that one :)

Right you are! Always something spine-tingling, seeing and hearing a 'Streak' chiming through Donny!

Yep, no diesel. Have found myself in a table for two with an empty seat opposite. Bliss - I can enjoy the ambience of a Pullman car and read my book :)

Yep - much exhaust and chiming on the climb into Peterborough :) Joyous.

Decent shot, given the dull conditions. You can see that No 9, and her support crew, is keeping busy these days. She has that patina of a hard-working loco. Well cared for, but not polished every day.

To me, 60009 always looks right. A bit dirty, but no more - and well cared for. I'd rather see that than the glistening show ponies we often see. Well done JC - again.

Bang on time through Tallington, nicely work-stained, the exhaust sounding sweet and even, as ever. I was on this trip last year but was disappointed by the shovage. Decided not to book this year because I didn't want to support the indignity of Gresley's finest being pushed up the ECML by a diesel. Oh well . . . . ! I hope everyone on board has a great day.

    Thank you :)

I was on either this trip last year or one similar, but it was booked for the same locomotives - but it ended up being Royal Scot out and a Bodysnatcher back!

I'd hardly call a hard working loco a show pony just because it's nice and clean. Many owners and support crew like to keep their steeds as pristine as possible.
You're at liberty though to let your own loco get dirty. ;)

What can I say - I'm a fan of the New England look... ;)

Just passed the very clean 66 789 near Doncaster - BR Blue does suit those locos.

I saw enough decrepit 35A 9F and B1 to never want to see a preserved loco in that condition.
