Off course ,but it will be more auhentic than having a diesel (soon to be outlawed as well?) at back end doing most of the work.

I agree. And since BR no longer exists the only possible inheritors of such a condition are either Network Rail; the NRM or the UK Government - none of whom would want the loco (they’d see it as a liability) or object to selling it to somebody else.

No such condition exists regarding BRs gifting of the loco.

It was the hypothetical question of the Canadian museum imposing such a condition if it did gift the loco to someone else that was being discussed.

There's far better ways of running steam ,"sin free" and I suspect cost or legislation may force us to do so in the next 25 years. The heritage market in the UK only has a coal haul of 25k tonnes or so a year.

A UK company has recently revealed a low cost system for making briquettes or bio coal out of human waste among other biowaste that should burn pretty clean as they are pitching it at power stations. I personally suspect cleaner than the Russian batch most of us have suffered through the last couple of years!

Would it maybe be a cheap way of having an extra A4 running for low money?
The batteri tender could be used in combination with other Gressley pacifics maybe.

A fair comment - My intention wasn't to cause arguments, and I can now see a different angle on things. Thanks for your answer, and also to Quicksilver 2510.

Next item to be outlawed by our ruling class when they discover that CO2 escapes by opening.

Good. Double-nonsense in that case, since the whole premise of this thread is the present owner might need to sell it for the money. I’m sure they’ll keep it.

So whats the story with Waddon ending up in Canada? It’s obvious why they accepted DoC, but a terrier named after a south London borough?
