Always go up expecting the worse possible - then anything different is a bonus, although not usually much of one!

That photo you sent me from outside the visitor centre at Glenfinnan is amazing! The edge of the Loch should be about 200 metres from the road, not almost on top of it!

One of the attractions of the Highlands, the unexpected. I've had horizontal rain at Glenfinnan and then sat outside the pub in Arisaig in a T shirt under clear sky. The week I had in May was the first time in 18 years of going that I didn't get wet.

Thanks Henry. No not next week, don't give up as everyone's says with the forecast. Thursday and Friday were poor here and the forecast for this week was awful. But yesterday was a beautiful day and in large parts so has today so far.

Thanks Henry, and John, you know better than any of us that ignoring the forecast is the best way forward!

I'm still keep an eye on the updated cloud cover forecasts tomorrow, as in the last 24 hours it's scheduled Tuesday to range anywhere from glorious to grim. So with still having tomorrow off this week, I might as well gamble. And you might as well gamble on next week.

Thanks Henry! Although to be fair the landscape and crews are doing all the work. I just point a camera at it.

I never go by the forecast, if I did I would have missed some classic scenes over the last 18 years. I've been in horizontal rain at Glenfinnan and enjoying a pint outside in my shirtsleeves at Arisaig on the same day, part of the charm of the Highlands. Are you up there next week at all?

Plans currently are to commute from home Mon-Wed, and then Jess and I return to stay on Thursday and Friday to follow up with a Strathspey trip on the Saturday. I hear the valleys will be filled with golden sunshine*....

*As typical, between the hours of 1300-sunset. Unless the engine could be turned, then sunshine is guaranteed between sunrise and 1300! ;)

One from myself yesterday. Weather overall was miserable, so chose the right day to bail after Glenfinnan and chase up some of our Caledonian Charters arrangements with the 828 Trust at Strathspey. Day wasn't a complete loss however, with a patch of brightness at Glenfinnan.

At the time of taking the photograph, I honestly thought the train was in a lot less light but perhaps my eyes were comparing too much to the fully lit hills behind! So a welcome surprise when I put the SD card into the computer this morning.

That's me now for this week, unless Friday proves gamble-worthy before a nightshift. Good luck to Karl for the rest of the week, today and tomorrow look promising!
