On my travels today is noticed on the back of a old trailer a saddle tank of a industrial locomotive, no idea what it is from and miles away from any preserved railway any thought s it is located in hycemoor bootle in Cumbria

Further info , I spoke to a resident on a nearby estate he said there is a drive way opposite were there trailer is parked and said he rember about 20 odd years ago a steam engine was taken to a large agricultural building which is 100yds down the lane on a low loader and there was various bits of machinery etc in the building in all sorts of disrepair

Could this be AB929/1902? Listed by the IRS at 'Broughton-in-Furness area'. (Also curiously noted as carrying a plate from AB1054/1906; no idea what that is about!)
Digging back further it looks as though this loco may once have been at the LHR.

Fair enough. My IRS book is '14EL' which dates from 2006, I hadn't realised it was quite that out of date. Maybe time to invest in the latest edition.

AB1054 was delivered new to the North Lonsdale Hematite Iron Co Ltd, Ulverston becoming their No 5, so there is a Cumbrian connection there, probably worth seeing if anyone associated with the Ratty have an idea or the Cumbrian Railway Association?

Just noticed your avatar which looks remarkably like AB 2343, formerly at Chasewater until 2015.

It is indeed. That water tank I need to throw my new cover over it I just haven't got round to it. The rest of the loco (if not in my garage) is at Ribble Steam Railway in Preston. The water tank is on my uncle's trailer as I have no room for that at home.

When was that? From what I can gather from a former owner and others who remember it back in the day it was the early 70s when it was last in steam. Do you have any photos at all of it?

Yes I have a photo somewhere, taken on a 110 camera when I was a child. It would have been in the 80s - I did visit Carnforth in the 70s but was too young for a camera then. I am not entirely sure where my older photos are, both I and my parents have moved house in recent years and it could be in either house, but when I find it I’ll attempt to contact you.
