If enough people put their hands in their pocket and book tickets, and given the goodwill towards a very highly respected gentleman and the good cause the trip supports then I would expect it too .

following on from your gripes re the SVR and now the above I do wonder if all is ok in your world

Just think its very short notice for NR etc to actually organise anything. I quite liked the SVR bash but prefer things to go as planned. That's no different but health issues aren't helping at the moment though I don't want a great discussion about that. We all get old but some do it better that others.

On the link in post one it says this trip was being planned by Dennis prior to him passing for a final farewell to 9466 on the mainline. So it probably has been in the planning for some time.

They could fill the train twice over if that was a passenger working and not ECS, then get the Branch Line Society involved for the rare track!
(Goods Running Line Working Instructions and a couple of point clips and a MOM for an hour. Unfortunately such working instructions need 8 or 12 weeks notice for peer review by the LOM and signalling centre supervisors.)
For those who don't record track travelled over down to the last yard/chain/metre, it gives a chance to photograph the loco somewhere apart from the destination.

    Cheers, Neil

Am I right in thinking that the Chinnor line isn't working on the day of this special?

Does anyone know the reason for the lengthy stop and shunt at West Ruislip?

I presume as well that as the timings show it doesn't actually terminate at Princes Risborough station that passengers are allowed to stay on to Chinnor where the loco is being serviced?

Appear to have found the answer to my question, reported on the Heritage Railway magazine website that there is a private charter on the railway that day with 5526 so the train will terminate at Princes Risborough.

Some nice footage on Facebook of 9466 en route . The private charter with 5526 was mine and sadly cancelled due to lack of support . Really hoping day is going well for 9466

My footage of 9466 storming up Saunderton Bank - Footage of her begins at 2:20. The video also features 60009 Union of South Africa on the Yorkshireman. Enjoy.

9466 was watered, in both directions, at the up platform as this has adjacent road access.
To achieve this, for the outward run, the train had to move forward into the up refuge sidings having first decamped the passengers at the platform.
This was to allow an up Chiltern stopping service to call at the station. Once that departed 9466 reversed the train back into the platform for watering.

Apparently both Chiltern and Great Western retimed a number of their services to allow this trip to take place.
A great day out with a gutsy little loco and running to time throughout.
Everyone involved made this trip a fitting tribute to Dennis.
