They have announced that B1 1264 will be the second visiting loco for this event (in the guise of another class member - 1251) which joins the previously announced "City of Wells".

There will apparently be a "heritage" bus link between Loughborough Midland and GCR stations on the Saturday and Sunday of the Autumn Gala. Can't recall that happening on previous events of this type, though there is one when they have the bus rally at Quorn each April.

Yes, when it was moored off Clacton in 1994(?) for one of the Restricted Service Licence broadcasts that were made at that time.

The heritage bus link is now mentioned on the GCR Gala webpage....

The (passenger) timetables for the event have now appeared on the GCR website.

Usually all towards Leicester, looking at recent photos Oliver Cromwell is now pointing that direction too having returned from Shildon.

Something else for anyone linesiding - the field at Woodthorpe which has been a popular spot during Galas is now totally fenced off, has become a building site.

Is there a reason why they normally all face Leicester? I remember last time I went two years ago 9 out of 10 were facing that way (Cromwell was the exception).

I passed Quorn yard this morning and saw 1264 (as 1251 'Oliver Bury') being unloaded - it's facing south.

The B1 and City of Wells are at Loughborough and both pointing south according to pictures on the GCR shed works facebook page (well worth a follow btw).
