That's good news. Quite a bonus for the NVR as well.

With 34081 at the NYMR, it provides them with a steam loco at a time when the only other cover is diesel.

I believe there's also two days of corporate running as well?

Indeed, why bring it down so early when bringing it later and keeping it in light steam is better practice - unless its due a washout or something...

There’s a members and volunteers train on the Monday evening but not aware of anything else at present. Be surprised if they don’t milk the corporate market though.

Is it still possible to get a platform ticket or watch it lineside at the NVR? I fancy a day trip to see two of my favourite Pacifics...

There are services on Thursday and Friday - private trains for coach trips, corporate of a sort I suppose. Public running is on Saturday, Sunday and Monday although the tickets for this are sold out.

    Hi Simon,

Parking at Wansford is strictly for those with Scotsman tickets. However there is a shuttle service operating from other stations to wansford. Normal fairs apply for this. The usual trade stalls etc and Wansford and rover ticket on the ahittlsi believe should let you hop on and off all day on the shuttle.

The “Just Go” people? Just so happens I’ll be passing Wansford on my way to the Moors. May have to pop in and have a look at the old girl.

Platform tickets will be available at all stations - the train will not be stopping at Overton and Orton Mere however nor is it running to Yarwell. Expect it to be very busy though. There are lots of lineside opportunities if you want to see her in action - the NVR has a public footpath along most of its length. Tornado may also be completing running in turns on some days so if you get lucky you may see two of the ECMLs finest in one hit. If you do take advantage of the greatest free show on earth then do pop into one of the stations and buy a cup of tea and a bit of cake to bolster the finances!

Thank you all for your responses. I think I will pop up to Peterborough :)

And yes - I'll certainly put some money into the NVR's coffers. How could I not?

I might be biased, but I'd suggest the new Great Northern Tea Room at Overton (formerly Ferry Meadows). Decorated with an original GNR display from Peterborough north station, a works print of Great Northern, signed by SNG and a 5 inch guage model of a GNR Atlantic... Ideal for a weekend watching a GNR Pacific passing through a dozen or so times in the day!

Perhaps this will get us back on track? 60163 departing Orton Mere with the first train of the day this morning (Though on a side note, I did a bit of cosmetic restoration on the tender of that Danish Pacific back in 2013. Be nice to see her back one day...) DSC_1846 (2).JPG
