So the challenge for the wagon restoration group is that there is 51 weeks to get the sole surviving GWR E4 wagon rebuilt for the military train. A crow fund will be needed for the metal work etc.

This is a 2mm model of one of them http://www.mill-lane-sidings.co.uk/mlsaero.html

Thanks Chris, I remember the conversation well. Robin Wichard and I couldn't have hoped for a better turn out and I thank everybody within the WSR and the local community who all worked brilliantly together and often went the extra bit needed. It was many hours of stress and pain but was rewarding.

At the dance a pretty young lady who should have been the belle of the ball enjoying herself instead spent all evening looking after her wheelchair bound Nan, today she posted this on her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/659340232/posts/10155698542490233/ This alone made every second worth it and I have to say it put a lump in my throat.

Our friend Mike Dan, aka Admiral Scorner, has posted a number of videos on YouTube showing the events of the 40's weekend.

Blimey, I read the comments and it suddenly got quite dusty over at Fraser Towers. That's why we do what we do.

I wonder which one of the footplate crew she tried to pull ? (her nan, not her)

As an utter sceptic on wartime events, that came as near as anything can to winning me round. That was really good to read.

The wagon concerned is a GWR 813 Fund vehicle. No need for Crowd Funding as funding is already in place. What it requires is volunteer input. The Fund is always grateful for any donations to help restore this unique vehicle. We have a PayPal account. Thanks

Anyone have the times for the standard 5 arrival please, only the outbound diesel is listed on real-time trains

  10. The news item on wsr.org.uk says "Arrival is currently expected at Bishops Lydeard at 3.56pm." Hope this helps.

1940s weekend, fantastic event. Outstanding involvement throughout. The railway looked fantastic and everybody should be proud of what they achieved.
Thanks to Robin for his organisation and everybody else who took part.

You look very smart in Uniform there Ian - and have managed to well avoid the usual problem re-enactors point out to 'railway' officials in uniform which could be summarised as 'get you ****** hair cut'! :)

AIve question. What is stopping the work then? Lack on manpower? I am sure the Wagon Restoration Group would give a hand.
