Nice touch that one of the very very few Class 47 locomotives that would ever have any real claim to "heritage" status (via the XP64 connection) should be paired with D213 for this outing. I really did think that we had "met the future" when I first saw the British Pathe and Modern Railways images of D1733 hauling the prototype rake of XP64 stock from Marylebone along the GWR/ BR High Wycombe/ Birmingham line. Can it really have been 54 years ago??

Not necessarily. I seem to recall, that where traction changes from diesel to steam en route, RTT shows the timing speed for the first sector. Certainly this has been the case for the Euston/ Carlisle CME's which switch from electric to steam at Carnforth.

That's correct. RTT will show what speed the first part of the path is timed as.

An interesting snippet - copied & pasted from North Wales Coast Railway......

"(Other news about Mr Hosking's operation is that two electric locos, reportedly 90 001 and 90 002, and an HST set, to be released by Great Western have been acquired.)"

    I didn't!

I might even have a pic of the two 90's together at Euston......... I know I saw both fresh out of Crewe on test.

Wonder if there will be any tie up with ACLG once their Caledonian Sleeper work ends in due course?

    From uk-rail:

''1Z46 Preston to Stratford on Avon. Diesel failed at Wigan. Awaiting events.''

''1Z46 made a hasty stop next to the Leyland cam, now the green duff is
coming off the back at wigan, maybe to run round.''

Did wonder how it managed to lose 20 minutes between Preston and Wigan. They can probably pinch time back with less pathing stops.

According to UKSteam, one water stop at Bescot UDG on the return. However it is possible to take on water at S-O-A.
