My three trips in the last 12 months - Border Raider, Tees Tyne and Sulis & Sarum - have all gone well as far as Tornado is concerned. A few NR issues but they were overcome.
Next due behind her in just under 5 weeks - fingers crossed, but realistically not hopeful, but perhaps my absence of jinx will work.

I hope you're prepared to pay a substantial amount to have her repainted if it's just because you "wanna see her in something other than apple green again"

If the loco needed repainted then yes, if you want it repainted just for the sake of it, then no.

Apple green is the core livery. But who says we can’t change it up...?

She’s currently in the Doncaster colour scheme together with the numberplate lower and lack of curly sixes, and a lipped instead of a stovepipe chimney.

There’s a few key changes there that could be made that could refresh her look for enthusiasts and also keep the overall core look for the general public.

But let’s face it - that blue really was stonking...

Unless the A1 trust are using particularly poor painting methods, I don't think Tornado actually needed repainting at the time of most of its previous repaints.

Given that the A1 Trust had previously indicated that Tornado would display a variety of liveries and it's been Apple Green for a while, it's surely not an unreasonable question to ask?

While I wouldn't be asking the question now, just after the loco has undergone unscheduled repairs, I'd also be interested to know if there are plans for it to carry another livery during the current boiler certificate, or if now she's carried all the planned liveries, it's Apple Green for the foreseeable?

I know it's a fool that wades into livery 'froth', but what's the problem with Tornado's livery at the moment? Apart from one other (in)famous ex-LNER Pacific, I see little clamour for other preserved locos to run in different liveries...? For instance, where's all the demands for SNG to return in any other colour than Express Passenger Blue?

As Tornado is a new locomotive and as such never wore any LNER or BR style liveries, I guess the Trust and it supporters are at liberty to paint the loco in any livery they wish. Mind you I do not think purple or orange based ones would be appropriate.

I wonder if the A4 is in reserve for these three runs in five/six weeks time.

No problem with the current livery at all, it's my personal favourite. Part of my reason for being interested is in case it goes back into the dull green livery so popular with many!

I'd love to see SNG back in garter blue, but it also looks great as it is and would also do so in green. Given that Bittern has provided us with garter blue and Union green, I think the BR blue is a good choice for SNG.

On the livery debate - it makes sense to keep Tornado in its current livery. It is also the livery in which the locomotive appeared on Top Gear, hit 100mph, was in Paddington 2, hauled service trains and more, so from Joe Public's point of view, this is the most recognisable livery out there.

Unsurprisingly, given the above, it is also the livery in which Tornado appears in A1SLT adverts, so why change something that works well?

Will the York trip with Tornado be one of the most promising trains at the moment

The livery is correct for the time if it had appeared directly after 60162. As I understand it the idea was for it to be painted in the other two liveries it would have carried and then permanently return to Apple Green
