Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier for the above. We have 2 to replace as they are badly split. They look as if they have been replaced at sometime with 5 mm section which has degraded and split up the vertical fold. Thanks

In relation to your question, no idea, but we are facing the same question ourselves. Measuring up the other day, the requirement is for 5mm thick x 10"wide x 16'6"(5 metres), based on counting bolt mounting centres at 4".

I can't think of the name of the Company but we have a Rep come round periodically for the rubber extrusions for the carriage windows. I'd doubt that they'd be able to supply such but, with him being 'in the trade', I'd imagine he'd be the best bet to provide any leads.

I was sent out to a firm at Telford who produced Gangway rubbers for new build units in the 80's.
Cannot remember the name but that may get you started.
If I recall rightly it could not have been very far from the station as I was on Foot with an All Stations Pass.
I had to carry 2 rubbers on the train then going through New st and back to York.

Thanks for the replies. Just talked to seals + direct who recommend a 70 shore hardness rubber and can supply in a 5 metre length. They are sending me a sample so will let you know how it goes.

    Namron,

The company you need to contact is Dexine Rubber, they manufacture genuine curved section Mk1 gangway diaphragms all pre-punched and ready to fit. Cost last time I purchased a batch was around £200 each if I remember correctly. Order BR part number 018/000417.

    Hope this helps,

    Andy.

Thanks Andy. I took some photos today and the rubber is 10 1/2" wide, and the two top centre fixings are at 2 5/8" centres.

Now..............if I knew how to load the photos.....................:(

Hi all. I am still drawing a blank on this one . Contacted Dexine rubber, seemed hopeful at first but after chasing a couple of times after they said they were looking for a drawing. Nothing from them since. At least ome other company were interested, probably on the back of this thread.

Finally realised how to upload a file/image. DOH!

Are you any further forward with this?.

I have found a link to Railway Documentation and Drawing Services Ltd,
    https://www.rssb.co.uk/about-rssb/railway-documentation-and-drawing-services-ltd
which appears to be a fee-charging service. I believe there is another similar type of company based in the Crewe area, but have been unable to establish a name.

    Bump.

Having purchased the required Drawing, I'm in the process of getting quotes for these. If anyone else is interested then feel free to PM me indicating which Railway/Group you are enquiring on whose behalf.

And no. The Terms and Conditions under which the Drawing was purchased precludes distributing other than to potential Suppliers.;)

Not sure how long this thread has been going. Mk 1 gangway diaphragms in fire retardant neoprene rubber with bolt holes pre-punched are available from South Devon Railway at £358 each plus VAT. Plus a lot of other Mk 1 body repair spares. Send for our catalogue - carriage end panels, structural steel sections etc - engineering@southdevonrailway.org
