Another lovely contribution from The Admiral. Those Manors sound wonderful as they go off into the distance.

  3. Immaculate green '47' D1935 has just delivered Braunton + POB to the line. Crossed the junction from NR at 18.41hrs.

If reports I read elsewhere are correct, the POB is another former WSR resident, 35451, which many will remember as the green BSK present for a number of years.

  5. 'twas formerly the Bahamas support coach. Acquired and reliveried in BR green to run with Braunton. Nice when a plan comes together.

Anthony, thank you for consistently bringing this thread back to talking about trains. It makes a nice change from all the politics.

    Hope your leg mends quickly.

  8. Sorry to hear about your accident and injury - hoping or a speedy recovery. Andy G has kindly provided a few pics of Braunton's arrival which are now on wsr.org.uk

Don, the incoming special as per the current Ops notice "will be worked forward from BL by 53808."

60009 (scheduled arrival 12.46) and the POB will detach from IZ09 at BL and subsequently
turn on the NF triangle. 53808 depart BL for MD at 13.15.

    Return working IZ10 depart MD (53808) 16.15. Arrival BL 17.28, 53808 detach, 60009 +
support coach attach and depart 17.55

The 7F is very much a trusted steed for such workings.

Any clue whether or not she will be bringing a diesel tucked in for assistance? Some people are saying no diesel, others with diesel.

Very sorry to hear this, Anthony. I hope you make a full and speedy recovery.
At least Braunton's in no rush to leave our railway.

  18. I have been asked to post this statement on Nat Pres:

"The WSR plc has seen the statements issued by the WSRA and the two trustees who have been dismissed.

We are very concerned that private disputes have been brought into the public domain and that reputations of PLC directors have been brought into question. The West Somerset Railway went through a period of instability four years ago and we do not want any return to that situation. We call upon all involved to find peaceful resolutions.

The Board fully support Frank Courtney and Rodney Greenway and look forward to the WSRA getting back to recruiting members, fund raising, and supporting the railway during the busy Summer period.

Above everything, the most important thing for all of us must be the good of the railway, its financial stability and the "one railway" principle. That trumps everything and is the end to which we must all work.

    Ian Coleby

Chairman of the West Somerset Railway"

With a Salaried Staff of 50 there should be more than enough people to achieve what Michael Suggests! However one of the facts which concerns me most is can the WSR afford 50 Employees when the likes of the Gloucester Warwicksire Railway GWR, a railway of some 14 TOTALLY REBUILT Miles can get by with just 5 i.e. 10% of the WSR Workforce? This is something the present plc board needs to Address and Urgently!

As regards my reaction to these events is not again!! The Railway has had ongoing Political ******** (apologies for the phrase) from the outset and will never ever achieve its potential until they end something which is not likely to stop now unless very strong action is taken!
Unless someone takes it by the balls the railway will ultimately fail and none of us wants to see that and instead see it fulfil its phenomenal potential. For that we need Strong Leadership and a team of people that deliver Management and Results. Failure to provide that should mean the door!

As regards the WSRA I joined way back in April 1974 and enjoy a very low membership number but I would gladly sacrifice it if this nonsense were to end by the removal of all the benefits that it enjoys at considerable cost to the plc. making it and its considerable operating costs unsustainable.

    Horrible dilemma!!
