May I ask why? How do you deal with companies that don't have websites? Or you need info and there's no internet signal?

GTR have been trying that for the past few moths. :)
Not suggesting the NVR website is wrong but there's always the possibility of a glitch so a phone call to confirm what the website is saying never goes amiss in my experience.

Hopefully the steam ban, now lifted, will not return.

    Hi Reading General,

I'm pleased to hear you can now visit.

I recommend the buffet at Wansford station. I hope you have an enjoyable day :)

Not really any of your business, but I'm pretty much deaf. I can get by with lip-reading and guess work but that doesn't work on the phone. Hearing aids are of some help but again, not on the phone

not fussed about the traction, I quite like diesels, had a class 20 last time I was there which I enjoyed.

Not applicable to most heritage lines I suspect, but for those with varying degrees of loss of hearing - and given the age of many preservationists I guess that is quite a few - the telephone can be a real challenge especially for those using call centres and similar places that are manned by people with strong foreign or regional accents.

Returning to events on the NVR - 61306 seems to have disappeared from the Steam In Green event on September 1/2. Any idea why? I am also wondering if 60163 may be running as part of its running-in turns?

and also the buzz of background noise you get which is what kills me on the phone. Even with my hearing aids, and the phone on loudspeaker,it has to be a perfect line with no extraneous noise for me to have a conversation. Net result: I don't do phone calls and use mine only for texts and photos. My bill is infinitesimally small. I resort to going out to the car and using the Bluetooth with the stereo on full if I get a call and can't avoid taking it

I would guess her overhaul at Carnforth and testing is behind schedule. She has no Main Line work booked now until the end of September.

Apparently 61306 will not be ready in time. I believe due to the steam ban affecting running in opportunities at Carnforth.

I've not heard anything about Tornado appearing since the last announcement from the A1ST.

The latter is pure speculation on my part but it'd fit in nicely as the event was originally called "Pacifics". However, I notice there's some double-headed running on that event too - that'll be fun! Pity about 61306 though, I've not seen it that often.

Thank you for explaining the absence of 61306.

No need to be sarky. It was an honest question to which you eventually gave an honest answer. A friend of mine is in the same boat so text messages on a mobile are a boon.

I'm not being sarky, it really was none of your business and instead of accusing me of being sarky, you should be saying, I'm sorry for intruding.

Video from Saturday of both locomotives - quite glad that the reported failure on 60009 was short lived! Thanks to all involved, will we ever see no. 9 at Wansford again?

Yes, I remember putting my hand in my pocket to make a contribution towards Tinkerbell's return earlier this year... :)
