Surely it's unlikely to run with steam in this weather isn't it?

Not so. We did 3 TBEs in 2004, 8th, 22nd and 29th August and a further one on 21st August 2005 with No.9, all for Past Time Rail. First TBE for the 'new company'.

I understand a decision is to be made today on how it'll run.

Can't see No.9 being allowed to move to Philip's Marsh in this heat. Most likely to be diesel hauled.

Indeed - I suspect that'll be the case. I phoned earlier, but was asked to ring again tomorrow. Glad I didn't book onto it, but I'm booked onto the 22 July RD, which is going to be hauled by a Black Five if the RTC website is to believed. Annoying, as I booked on the basis of a 'Castle' on home turf, but there y'go.

When I phoned TBEL last week, I was told they were looking at running a charter in October to make up the numbers, depending on demand. Seeing as the paths are in the WTT, DB won't need to go through the normal 12-week approval process.

Thanks for the dates. I remember seeing the loco a few times at Churston: one one occasion I got to touch her. :D

    Diesel tucked behind loco?

  8. We've booked 4 seats on that RD on the same basis. Really hoping for the Earl but would settle for any unassisted steam traction now. I guess a decision will be made next Monday. We're taking it in turns with the rain dancing 'til then!

Rain is forecast on Monday and Tuesday but I fear it’ll be too little too late.

We had fun with 45407 and 8 a few years and under normal circumstances a 5 would be good again. 45407 had to be worked pretty much flat out with load 8 eastbound over Dainton and Rattery, and then westbound up the long climb through Bodmin to Doublebois and then there are the little issues of Hemerdon and Dainton. There's no way can a Class 5 ease it's way over banks that steep under a fire rick scenario unless it is a light load.

At the moment Devon and Cornwall is pretty much tinder dry despite some rain last week. Unless there's significant and prolonged rain in the next 10 days it will be show pony steam. We're booked on it too so hope it does rain enough to damp things down. Realistically not expecting it to and expecting to have to write it off.

Because of diesel and light steam ruling I now have 2 table for 2 dining tickets which I'm not going to use and can't get a refund or voucher for. Any offers?

Torrential and prolonged rain at present in the Bath / Bristol area. Unfortunately, TE wise, we're back to clear blue skies and temperatures in the high twenties throughout the weekend.

If only we could have clear blue skies from October to April. <BJ>

More shed mileage for those that way inclined and some show pony steam for those who aren't ,
    Best of both worlds,

Gen is 66015 leading with steam tucked behind, any one confirm? Was going out for pictures but won’t it the diesel in front and not tucked behind. Thxs
