She had done a full reverse run trip now and dragged a diesel and eight empties. Day or two of fine tuning now

Hi, my friend and I are writing a book about the railway's engines and came across one called a Wall Autowheel Scooter, does anyone have any information about it

The scooter dose still exist but there are not many parts left. The person to speak to is David Rouce in the museum.

Are you planning to carry out any indicating on the engine? Mark Timothy on the Bure Valley benefited from this exercise.

Well done on a job nearly completed, so far as working with locomotives ever is. The “very quiet” is not going to go down well with the back pressure enthusiasts though. If they want a noisy engine they can build one.

The loco was indicated in its old form. Mods where made to the valve gear then. I haven't got access to such equipment. The main elvents have not been altered. Convention to ring control rather than head control has been done. Also the valves have been Porterised as also the liners etc.

As for the noise, maybe the noise merchants won't like it but it has the crispest and most pure sound you will have heard out of any loco. It sounds like a big black panther purring along. All power and speed. This is how all locos should be up front, not the defending roar of back pressure while trying to pull some small load.

Your next challenge is to design a 'resonance box' which amplifies exhaust blast noise, or divert a portion of the blast through a tight nozzle into an echo chamber..;)

Never. I am about power, efficiency and modern concepts. The idea is to develop steam so it can survive? If you want back pressure noise see 6023 and the Snowdon locos.

Yes , at least in part due to the dry weather. Dorris is double heading the busiest trains and the last train as normal.

At last it's "Game, set and match @Nigel Day"! Fantastic to see the event all those long months of metal wrangling were aiming at. My unreserved congratulations to you Nigel for a job well done.

La'al Ratty's management must've breathed a collective sigh of relief after years of loco shortages. Finally .... everything needed to run a full service fits on the turntables!

So ..... which loco's next in line for some tlc? :)

Enquiry: That there new obs carriage (see FfR 'Moving Images' updates on YouTube) ... Is the Blodge doing the entire construction, bodywork, fitting out and all? Edit: the latest Moving Images has answered this ..... The bodywork looks like a 2/3 sized version of the latest Blodge Obs carriages ... which are very nice indeed! :)

Ok then, well the back pressure noise on 6023 is a lot better than it was, and you kind of missed my point which was tongue in cheek... but this is your thread and your work deserves nothing but praise so will let it lie... and a big like for 30854's post

Maybe I am a bit obsessed with front ends and yes I had realised you where tong in cheek and maybe I should have made it clear. I have tried to load a video here but failed to show my point about what a good front end dose. There is one on the Ravenglass Facebook page.

Thinking of visiting on Friday. Any idea of what locos are running that day? If possible, which services.

    Thanks in advance.
