Just in case people only look in this thread and think nothing is happening here is an important announcment copied from New General Chat...

Right! The photo challenge seems to have gone a bit stale...(understatement maybe as it is only me uploading photos...). I have extended the regular Record and Image galleries for another week so they are still running and with the same rules as per normal. But, after advice was recieved I have set up a 'special collection' on Galas. I have listed it as running for a month but that is in no way set in stone, I am thinking pictures of strange double headers, crowd scenes, loco lineups anything at all really.

If anybody is reading this and feels they want to contribute but dosnt know how please get in touch with me. As it is at the moment with no-body showing an intrest I guess it may have to be suspended again although I am more than happy to continue to do the house keeping it does seem a little pointless...

So! There we go, feel free to upload your photos now...

    Many thanks

I've uploaded my first ones, eight over the last week or so. There seems to be only one person commenting though. Does his lone voice represent the limit of interest in this? If there is little interest, I shan't bother any more.

have you perhaps thought of commenting yourself on others work? The whole point is for people to say what they think providing you justify and explain your judgement so that others may learn. If you like something say so, and why, and likewise if you don't like it. You might have a really original point of view that helps others but by keeping quiet we'll never know. And yes I do try to comment when i have time and wil ltry to find something to say about as many as possible since it is only fair if someone has made the effort to post.

OK. I've done it. If I have anything useful to say, I'll post more.

And fair play to you. Hopefully the commenting should be as much a part of the learning process as the shooting or posting of images. Enjoy.

    Short answer : yes.

Longer answer - people seemed to lose interest in it - I've tried a number of times to reactivate it but to no avail.

I think it was a good scheme and if you were prepared to learn and have your work constructively criticised then you could reap dividends from it.

I'm happy to work with people to reactivate it - if anyone is interested please PM me.
