Yes, I've just checked. Only been there a few times, and have come back with the memory of a line hard to photograph on. Due more now to trees than the direction of the line!

Anyway, it looks like neither trees or line direction should be too much of a problem when 30850 goes to Toddington. Not that I will only photo it. I'll also grab my first run behind the class as well! Wow. In 2008 if all goes to plan with the loco!

Was at the NRM on Monday, and noticed that they were removing the cladding from Nelson's firebox. Couldn't see the tender anywhere...

Tender was outside last time I saw it or in the little area with cheltnam, this was a few weeks ago.....

For the record the Spa valley is on a vague (from Tunbridge wells) West to East till Groombridge at least, then starts going South westerly......

Went passed the NRM Prep Bay today and Nelson, minus part or most the cab was under some sort of steam test as both safety valves were lifting...

    Back to full boiler pressure?

That sounds very encouraging. IF the test was successful of course.

Let's hope 850 will be the same way round as 34007 and then we could see double heading.
When was the last time a Nelson and a Light pacific double headed together.

Spotted Lord Nelson on a low loader, heading south on the M1 today, just south of Sheffield at about 2-30pm. Heanors transport doing the honours. No sign of the tender though. I had no idea that it had problems until I read this thread. (I have been VERY busy with my own project for the last six months).

Well I'm pleased to say 850 arrived at Toddington around 1830ish, just as I was leaving in fact! Managed one or two (sadly poor quaility) photos of her arriving, which can be found here

More about a superb day at the Gloucester and Warwick Railway today later, ( I cannot bring myself to type xWR).

    But has 30850 failed?

It worked it's two trains Southbound, but I was told tonight it had been failed at Toddington because of "a leak".

    Any news much appreciated.

After 850 arrived at Winchcombe with the goods this afternoon, the loco was stabled in the bay platform. It was there that a small amount of water was found to be leaking onto the track. The crew said that the loco was to return to Toddington for an examination of the boiler. The loco would have to be allowed to cool for this to happen.

Nice to meet Bryan from Kent today. <BJ>

Yes. A great day amongst very friendly people, including free2grice: nice to meet you.

Any update on 30850 will of course be very welcome. Let's hope it's not too severe.

Should be there on the Hayles Bridge next Saturday morning from circa 09.00.

Owe you a pint from the local pub free2grice.

But only of it's done in between photos!

(Should be easy after 34007 and 30850 have gone past.) :

    Hello
I went to the GWSR for a ride today, very disapointed to see 850 out of service. There were some men in NRM high-viz things climbing on her today, and a untidy note stuck on the notice-board in Toddington, but it didn't explain what was wrong. (I would have got pulled by her today!! -got 7903 instead.) But I still had a good day, especially when I was looking at 92203 and got invited into her cab with David Shepherd. I am not sure if the driver was supposed to toot the whistle when the engine was stationary, but provided good entertainment!!!

    Regards

    Will
