Tornado in fine form. Climb to Moseley Tunnel at around 30 mph, checked to 18 at Kings Norton then 53 on the climb to Barnt Green, eased to 49 thro station.

Big crowd at Bromsgrove. Away ahead of late Voyager and sprightly to Worcester, 61 max.

From 28 at Abbotswood Jn max 70 after Defford, 65 at Bredon, 73 max after Ashchurch and an easy 62 at Cleeve.

    Now watering on Glos avoider.

Yes the starts have been very good all round.

After the Glos water stop we reached 49 before falling to 47 at Standish Jn. 69 max at Cam & Dursley fell to 53 on the climb to Rangeworthy so steady rather than spectacular, but we were early.

Held on the rhubarb curve but got away well with an excellent 69 max before the Twerton Tunnels.

As we were pulling away from Bath the Hastings unit thumped through towards Bristol.

Held again at Hawkeridge Jn for a down HST to come off the curve from the Berks and Hants, but another good restart to ensure we tackled the bottom of the bank at the regulation 40, with a min of 27-28 mph on the 1:70 to Upton Scudamore.

Easy run down the Wylye valley to arrive Salisbury nearly 5 mins early.

With a couple of exceptions, the stock is looking in better shape than last year.

Edit: Load 13 incl genny, most on the heavier commonwealth bogies.

I was there. Have been to the Lickey twice in the hope of getting a sound recording reminiscent of some of the late Peter Handford's work. Each time has been a complete let down with 3000+hp of diesel shoving for all its worth. :(

seconf favourite are the two 6201 Climbs with panniers on the back . Glorious and well done to VT for pulling it off on more than one occasion

If there's a any fireworks, you might find it hard to spot them as the light on the front of Tornado is extremely bright. It's not an easy loco to film/photo at night.

Nice run up the Wylye valley, 67 max. Thro Warminster in 25 mins. But operational issues at Westbury put us behind late PAD - SWA.

73 max after Keynsham. Held at N Somerset Jn before rhubarb curve.

Crossed Hastings unit at Lawrence Hill and blasted thro Stapleton Rd at 37, 41 at Narroways fell to min of 32 at Horfield on the 1:75, with sound affects to match in the gathering gloom. Looking forward to the vids later.
