Made the trek up from Devon for all three days, the first time I've visited since accompanying D6737 on its visit in 2008. Have to echo the comments already made, a great gala with plenty of activity and lots of variety. The L&Y coaches in use on Friday, and the SR set on the Saturday also added an extra element and demonstrates its not just about the engines. Both sets were excellent and a credit to those who restored and look after them. Got caught out a little with the loco swaps on Friday and Saturday a bit. Ventured out on Friday to photograph the first goods and was caught out when 5820 appeared around the curve in place of 53808. On Saturday morning I decided not to bother getting up early to catch the goods as it was booked for 5820 - shock horror that I now see it was worked by 70013 instead. I'll put that one down to a missed opportunity by me. Managed to combine plenty of trips with a bit of photography at various locations too which also added to my visit. The only slight disappointment was 85 being rostered on the goods on both Friday and Sunday for much of the time. Had hoped to sample a trip behind the loco for the first time, however due to staying in Keighley only working on Friday saw no available return working to get back to Keighley, and on the Sunday I needed to get back south so couldn't quite stay long enough for its passenger working. Not to worry though, an excuse to make another visit again soon. All in all a very enjoyable few days up north and a big thumbs up to the organisers and all the staff who played a part over the gala.
