Possibly more costly but a t&t diesel would perhaps be a simpler operation, one driver and a boiler minder?

Even when being diesel hauled in light steam, the loco has to be driven, therefore driver and fireman required.

So if it's chimney first from Hellifield it may go Bamber Bridge - Farington Junction and miss out Preston altogether.

According to a friend who spoke to the support crew at Church Fenton, the approach line to the turntable was blocked by wagons.

    Flying LE 1b.jpg

In beautiful frosty conditions, LNE A3 class 4-6-2 'Flying Scotsman' crosses the River Aire near Gargrave during its LE move to Hellifield and Castleton

I much prefer to see mainline engines running smokebox first but LNE A3 class 4-6-2 'Flying Scotsman' still makes a fine site as it crosses the Leeds-Liverpool canal near Gargrave during its York-Castleton LE move

Friend saw something go in/out as he was coming into Victoria this morning with what looked to be not many coaches - I assume Stewart’s Lane. Clan Line?

Looking at Real Time Trains, the Chatham side services were diverted via Stewarts Lane Jn instead of running over the top via Linford Street Jn.
Nothing loco hauled booked to move as the "Q" Belmond Pullman to and from Folkestone West did not run.
No steam workings in the area, so I guess 35028 was safely inside its shed.

    Cheers, Neil

But can that be a driver/TI with support crew firing? Don't know if allowed now, but have heard that has been the case in the past...

Might it be 60009, off in readiness for a Pullman job down south?

Doubt it. The Pullman on Feb 3rd is 35028.

Thanks for the info, guess that narrows things back to the earlier speculated loco move but with the DBC query hanging. Perhaps it was 60009 but path not yet cancelled?

Have found this the following day:

    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U52202/2018/02/01/advanced

So would guess it’s not yet been cancelled

I think it has to be a passed driver, and TI but not sure if he/she needs to sign the route.
