Thx for the update. It is the ten locos in steam and the 90 movements at Loughborough on the Saturday that sets this gala apart from virtually any other. There is just always something happening :Snaphappy::)

It should be a excellent gala. I hope 73156 will be running as well?

73156 is being lifted from its driving wheels on Tuesday 19th December so is lucking unlikely for the gala

Why is 73156 being lifted? I thought the overhaul was finished and it had been running in?

Something to do with it trying to boldly go even further than the bufferstops at Leicster North will allow?

I understand why the GCR haven't published working timetables for the gala, but does anyone know the proposed start time (on the Friday) so that I can plan my London departure times.

Don't know for sure but usually the first Passenger Departure from Loughborough is 9am on the Sat and Sun on a Gala Day. I would have thought if you aimed to be there by then you'd be about right.

I know I normally aim to be at Quorn for 9am so I've got time to walk from the car park and get tickets etc.

Looking at last years Winter Gala t/t booklet, the first passenger train on the Friday was the 10.00 from Loughborough. There were a couple of light engine movements ex L'boro between 09.00 and 10.00, as well as one of the freights starting from Swithland, heading south.
Can't guarantee that it will be the same this year, but it might give an idea of what could happen!

Thanks. I had a feeling that 9am came into the equation, so will aim for then.

A light dusting of snow would give some nice pretty pictures though, trouble is we never seem to get *just* the right amount. :)

After two nights of sweat and polish - a few volunteers at the NNR have got the B12 ready to go!

Shame in Sheringham at the moment there’s much wind and rain - but it’s still in the shed! Hopefully, with two coats of polish, the weather won’t undo most of our hard work
