Car wax really brought out the shine on her. Last week we tried out different methods on her a wax gave the best results by far.

Indeed. Such male spigots are usually referred to as a core-prints.
And, of course, the use of air-set binders nowadays removes the need to actually bake cores.

Sorry for the decent into MIC land.

Well it is going to the Bluebell. They have very high standards and we can't send down something that isn't shining like the sun. It's now in a condition i like to call "Bluebell standard" what means that anything that can be polished has been polished to as near as perfection as we could get her.

As for the 73 well that's down for the diesel gala. After that i don't know how long she'll be on the line. The SVR did a really lovely job on the paint work on her what was most impresive when i saw her being unloaded.

I am familiar with the stanier mogul as I've been a SVR regular for a number of years but haven't had the chance to have a nosey in the cab. Be nice to compare it to the black five. I have to say i am quite impressed with the 4F and it's created a level of interest in the shed as everyone has been out to have a look at her.
The mogul will be a welcome engine and I'll make sure she's taken care of when she arrives since i spent most of the day giving the tender that shine on the 4F. I'll post pictures of her being unloaded next week.

I must be mistaken, but I thought the 4f had been retired with leaking tubes?

I believe 2968 is due at Llangollen on 14th. The Fund is really looking forward to seeing her there.

The cab layout is very similar to the Black Five's, except that the reverser is a wheel, not a bar. And oh yes, the pointer moves backwards for fore gear and forwards for back gear. Hope the Llangollen crews are warned on this! It does cause embarassment sometimes!
