    When you:

    (1) operate in a bubble of your own making,
    (2) believe that truth is a controllable, malleable quantity, and
    (3) think the means justify the ends,

then there is little you can’t convince yourself that you can get away with.

You must also remember that the leadership of any 'society' tends to control the communication with its membership, so it isn't difficult to make everything look rosy. This is, of course, less true in the Internet age but even then, the membership need to discover which internet platform is providing 'an alternative view'!

The ability of the 'leadership' to make sure those within the management structure (in its widest sense) who question the 'Status Quo' (not the band!) don't hang around long enough to become an annoyance is also a factor..........

I have a copy in front of me and the quality seems more than adequate.

I just wish that National Preservation has a dislike button.

Not being a member of the WSR, but merely an interested outsider, I feel like I've just strayed into Guido Fawkes territory.
It's fascinating, if that's the right word.

They have done that already. My complaint was, and is, solely about the quailty of the colour reproduction particularly of the front cover.

You seem to be confusing the WSR PLC and the WSRA. The current concern is about the resignation of the WSR PLC Chairman and and another director. Nothing whatsoever to do the the past troubles at the WSRA.

I see the Pullman car Lydia has left the railway. What was the reason it was there. Was it there for specific work to be done on it ? Where will it go now ?

Was it really 28 years ago? Makes me feel old... More ivy on the telegraph pole these days.

    Stogumber Progress.

In time for the Carol trains on Monday and Tuesday, Stogumber’s new down side GWR pattern lamp has been wired up and painted to match the original from St Ives in Cornwall (nearest the camera in photo 2).

And in other news, comparison between the two photos of the Station Yard shows that vegetation clearance to the left of the large fence panel has begun, ready for gates to be installed here.

At the risk of opening up an almost healed wound, those new Stop, Look, Listen signs are utterly hideous.

It isn’t healed. We have rather more serious stuff to deal with for a moment here in Somerset but there does seem to be a general acceptance that their specification / installation was dealt with very poorly. I would be hopeful that when tempers have cooled, a more sensible view can be taken.

I think you read too much into my post, Yorkshireman, possibly due to lazy terminology on my part. I'm afraid I don't know enough to confuse the issues! I just found reading the posts fascinating, that's all.

Having given up my WSRA membership a couple of years ago, I didn't receive a copy. However, with all this discussion, I might just pop up to BL shop and buy one. Love the 50s retro look on the front cover, takes me right back to early fifties seeing them climb up Potters Bar bank (shame about the headboard.)

At least the signs to which you refer are authentic railway signs, just modern ones. The older "beware of trains" with the red text on white background you can see behind are non authentic "imaginary" creations......
