It's not just visitor awareness.. Taunton and West Somerset has a large migrant population of retired people, and other people, who when you say you work on the railway, are unaware of it. ! !

How about a bit more. A settee/sofa in French is a "canape". Just as a second hand car is an "occasion"

'Lounges', 'sofas' and 'couches' here in Oz. I think if you used 'settee' people would think you a bit of a knob for putting on airs and graces!

"The footy is on the Tele mate, go and park your backside on the settee and I'll grab us a couple of beers." ....Doesn't really sound right to me!!

I understand that saying "now slip on yer thongs and go get me some durex" has a slightly different connotation in your neck of the woods too.

Point taken , now I know more of the facts I understand your reservations . TBH I've not been further east of BL since BR steam days , something I'm hoping to put right in the not to distant future .

    Back to the WSR.

Well people are on about moving the PW yard to NFz don't realise there has been one there for years. Google sat shows Mid August last year, but it has been there for years and as it is out of site behind the high hedges it can't be seen from the main line. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.0245235,-3.1572154,129m/data=!3m1!1e3 The second line behind the platform is much further now than shown (if not the full length of the platform) so could be used for loading/unloading.

Indeed, but one or two seem to have to become cantankerous with it.

There are pros and cons of all options. Sherings Yard is not rail cmnected at present, for the example.

I won't get you onto that subject, but just accept that what you have is what you have....
Over 20 miles is a wonderful amount of track. Some railways only manage a few miles.
If it is too long, so be it...for me it's an ideal length! It cannot be changed, it is what it is.

Am I right in thinking Sherrings Yard isn't owned by WSR ?

Wales smallest city has to be St Davids. The cathedral there is impressive, but you can walk from east to west, north to south of St Davids in 10 minutes!
