Well apart from you not knowing where 92207 is I'm sure the owners of 4253 , 92134 and 78059 would disagree with your comments. One of those might even have a steam test this year.
Have you seen James by Bury signal box recently?

My understanding of the word "demic" and yours must be very different. FWIW this is the dictionary definition https://www.collinsdictionary.com/us/dictionary/english/demic
If you mean 'derelict' then your list is well out of date as a good number of the locos listed are actively being restored and have been for some time. A simple search on here would have told you how well some locos e.g. 4253 are progressing.

You could also maybe add things like 30841 to the list - steamed in preservation but looks unlikely to ever again given that half of the bits are now on 30825. (Maybe someone will tell me I'm wrong, I hope so but I doubt it.)

Your list seems at best unkind to a number of dedicated preservation groups and individuals.
Perhaps some better research is needed.

I think an updated/corrected version of this list, perhaps with a bit more info regarding status of each entry, would be very useful. No, I'm not volunteering to do it, there are others much more knowledgeable than I am.

92134 is well on the road to restoration, as is 4253.

4253 is looking really good. The restoration team is working really hard and are to be congratulated for turning one of the Blaenavon "Barry Scrapyard" row of locos into what will undoubtedly be a real gem. But I'm biased of course! See link - http://www.4253.co.uk/Whats_Happening_Now/

THANKS CHAPS, ITS STARTING FROM WIKIPEDIA ENTRANTS. I have amended accordingly and will continue to do so from groups updates.
Sorry if it offends some groups, as we know its not a fully reliable source and often out of date. I know a few info is hard to find, and plans are made, the aim is to provide a decent up to date list, to provide interest help and perhaps some demics may even get moved on/restored with a bit more publicity. Some are not apparently been restored.

A few others on which serious work has been done include 3855 (Owner posts on here sometimes), 7229 and 48173. 35027 shouldn't be on the list. It was restored circa 1988 and ran initially on the Bluebell then on the Swanage Railway. It was then sold ot Jeremy Hosking and is currently at Crewe waiting its turn for restoration to main line order.

Again noticing that 7200 and 7202 are not on the list at all (both well on with restoration)? Plus 4979 (restoration underway at Preston) and there must be other Halls that are missing as the Grange group have one at least, frankly if Port Line is going to be on there should Dumbleton Hall not be?

    Edit again, 34073?

There is a thread on the works forum that covers this exact topic quite comprehensively. Might save a bit of time to look.

Whatever the OED says, to a railwayman, a 'demic' is a defective vehicle or other item of equipment.

It seems, in enthusiast terms, to have become defined as derelict or in scrap condition.

Whay does demic mean? The Collins definition above is nothing to do with this. It can't be derelict, as 3814 is described as that, while 3845 is a demic..... apparently. Does it mean dismantled? I see from the new above posts that it does mean derelict. How did that come about?

To me 'demic' means derelict or in scrap condition.
I would use 'u/s' (unserviceable) to mean simply defective, but maybe u/s isn't used on the railway, my career was with aircraft.

Actually in bits now, the frames are next to the shed and were about to be sandblasted when I was there a few weeks back. Work's been put on hold now that 80097 has a boiler again, but once that's complete I understand it'll resume.

I've seen something suggesting that the L&Y tank engine will be in the shed before it, although I don't know how accurate that is.
