And departing - It was nice to have the time to walk the length of platform 5 to get both the arrival and departure.

Great to see Clan Line back where she belongs, on Southern metals.

Today with Clan Line on the ACE to Exeter was something else. 68 over Grateley for example.

Spectacular run from Exeter, with some some absolutely first rate chatter after Bruton.

We (Me + 3 sons, 15, 9 & 7) were going to see it at Frome Station, in the event we decided to go to West Woodlands, just before Frome.

Firstborn announced that it was 13 early so we bolted for the door. By the time we got to West Woodlands it was 19 early (!?!) If you saw three boys by the track they were mine. I was still ploughing through the cow doo-doo which the two youngest managed to plaster themselves in.

It sounds like a pretty lively run!

Must be something up, surely as the train is losing time and now 36 late Didcot have progressively lost time since leaving 5 late at 1819

The only thing that was up all day was the fact that GWR don't know how to run an on time service. We were held outside Frome for a late running Weymouth service. That made us late away. Then we were managed into losing more time once on the GWML. Between times Steve Matthews was brilliant as was Wayne Thompson down to Exeter.

Clan Line has an amazing rate of acceleration. She was quick before but is something else now.

Another great day with a great loco and great crews.

Just popped out to see her at Wokingham around 36 late. Plenty out as well. Good to hear that no delays were down to the locomotive!

Helped I think by some slick signalling work to allow the ACE to run in advance of the 09:40 Portsmouth - Bristol service from Tunnel Junction, combined with re-platforming the Bristol service from platform 4 to 3. Had the ACE followed the Bristol train through Platform 4 as diagrammed, I'm sure it would have been held at Tunnel Junction and then ended up arriving several minutes late (the Bristol train didn't leave until 09:42, a couple of minutes late) rather than, according to RTT, seven minutes early at 09:35 1/2. Conceivably, that decision saved around ten minutes on the arrival time.

(The platform announcement to passengers waiting the Bristol service to move from platform 4 to 3 was only made a minute or two before the ACE arrived into platform 4, so feels like a good bit of in-the-moment organisation).

Nice to say hello to @Big Al while the loco took on water.

    Tom
