So now we are having disagreements over how you say you are not going to say anything about a subject which you yourself raised in the first place (in a manner that could seem to invite questions)!

Sometimes, this thread seems like a rejected Monty Python script.................

I'm at a loss as to how a station group can get itself in a situation where it disbands other than by lack of members, which it doesn't appear to be here. Only in Somerset....

It is curious that most threads about the WSR/WSRA develop into being quite contentious.

I travelled the WSR yesterday on the first train from BL, I must say that the driver (whom I'd never seen before in my dozens of journeys) gave me the smoothest ride I've ever had, even when coming onto his stock there was no banging & bouncing off. That is where the praise ends, I get so depressed when trying to enjoy the day looking out the windows & all you see every 100 yards or so is a rotting sleeper, pile of sleepers, discarded rail or old ballast just thrown up onto the embankment. You then reach the lovely little rural station of Dunster which encompasses a half mile scrap yard. Although being a pensioner with not the best fitness I would willingly donate a couple of days to help tidy things up, I'm sure I could help.
Reference FoCHs, I was a member until the 31st March this year but due to hearing so much about infighting within the volunteers & people I know being squeezed out I didn't renew my membership. Things would be better if the old crew were back.

    DJB.

I refer the honourable member to my previous reply. I repeat that I have no knowledge whatsoever of the reasons for the demise of FOCHS. You have jumped to unwarranted conclusions about the use of the smilies. I used the symbols simply to suggest that the least said the better, nothing else. May I respectfully suggest, as we say in the North, that you wind your neck in a little.;)

    Not too sure about that.

Whatever you may think of the West Somerset water other organisations, across the country, not just those that are railway related, do get into situations that cause them to fail. On the other hand if you were to blame the local alcoholic beverages............:)

Whatever exactly happened it seems to me that there may well be things we need to learn, and some sort of synopsis may well be helpful so that a repeat can be avoided on the WSR or elsewhere

Given that the WSR PLC General Manager was at the meeting the facts are known to him. Hopefully the lessons will be learnt. AFAICS nobody else really needs to know. Perhaps best to not disturb the sleeping dogs.

So why raise it in the first place?.......

    Would've stopped all this conjecture!

Sometimes, ignorance is bliss, especially to those of us outside the WSR bubble.

YABU. I simply reported a fact as did Steve Edge on his website. No reason to shoot the messenger!

    I'm not. :)

But if you hadn't raised it on here, then I'd've been non the wiser!

Not all of us follow all things WSR related outside of this forum, we have other/ better things to do/ our own railways to think of...... :Jawdrop: there is actually life outside of Zumerset , you know. ;)

The information came from an official WSR PLC statement on Steve Edge's excellent web site. You are really being totally unreasonable to blame me for what others have said about the situation. They would soon have found out the same way as I did and would have raised it on this forum. I deliberately made no other comment just the bare fact that FOCHS had ceased to exist. An absolutely classic case of blaming the messenger.
