I understand that the problem with the Duchess is a few leaking stays, these are being attended at the moment, with a view to being out on the GB on the 4th May.

You might need to change the title if 46233 is not fit Ralph . Don't mind being wrong when the noisy machine in 46115 runs over Shap & the S&C .

As noted yesterday in another thread, there was no sign of 46115 but there was a red Jubilee in steam?

86 not left Willesden yet, it has a fault that is being investigated..... Not sounding very promising at the moment!

We have left Euston with 87002 on the front. We are only going to Wembley yard where 47746 will run round and take the train forward. From here I assume it is make it up as you go along talk is currently go straight through to Carlisle without changing locos have some sort of break and then 46115 hauls the return.

At Crewe. Doesn't look good. Guess the 47 will stay on to take the train back???

Still at Wembley. The driver of the 47 only knows the route to Rugby. The driver with the knowledge is at Willesden on the 86... Apparently we are now waiting for the road but to where no one is saying!

OTT showing leaving Wembley. Fingers crossed. Besides the problem of late running, route knowledge, I wonder if fuel in the 47 might be an issue if it takes the train to Carlisle and stops on the back for the return.

It's running SL to Milton Keynes and with a Class 47 will take much longer to get north. Even by cutting out the Carnforth loco change I can't see them getting to Carlisle before about 2 pm. Assuming that the Scot goes north in the original path it'll make for a very short lay over at Carlisle for the passengers. And then there is the return. This all makes for a very difficult decision by West Coast as to how they can salvage something that is not their fault.

Shades of 11 July 2015, when 46115 left Carnforth ca. 3 hours late, but completed the original route. Hopefully the same will happen today for all onboard.

Isn't this at least the second time that the 86 has failed at the last minute?
