    https://www.churnet-valley-railway.co.uk/event/875/double-headed-s160s-weekend

How do you follow up the first Double-headed S160s in the 21st Century? You do it again of course!

Following 5197 succesful return to service at the Winter Steam Gala 2017, starring alongside sister 6046 on the Cauldon Branch, we are going to operate a weekend dedicated to our operational pair of USATC S160s on 6/7th May 2017.

5197 and 6046 will double-head all day throughout the weekend, operating a train equivalent to the weight of 10 coaches from Kingsley & Froghall station to Ipstones Loop - therefore including the 4.5 mile climb of the Cauldon Branch!

Timetable will be released shortly, as will advance tickets for which there will be an online discount.

5197 wasn't being worked too hard being fresh into traffic. Should be in better form for May.

Not a lot of news from the OAPway recently. Broken bones, ill health and absences have reduced our numbers over the last month or two. However we were in action this week with one of our favourite tasks - replacing the rubber pads between the concrete sleepers and flat bottom rails held in place with RD clips.

Yes T bar Tony is seen with his finger on the Bance throttle. However the standard T bar is still in use behind.

What is the regulator arrangement now on 5197? I gather it was previously a bit awkward as the gland is off centre to the right but it was converted to LHD in China resulting in a very long handle.

Had a go on it when it was first restored; the cross shaft used to twist when you pulled the handle, then the valve would open in a hurry

Not any more. She has been back converted so has the original as built set up similar to 6046. Though she has kept her air=powered reverser.

Not sure I understand. It looks as though it is LHD in the image.
