Can someone verify how the locos will be placed during the railtour please. Is the Tyseley - Stratford section top 'n tail and the remainder double-headed? TIA. <BJ>

Obviously I don't know but what you suggest makes sense. The timings point towards t-n-t on the leg to Stratford for certain.

It actually says top and tail to Stratford in the tour description so I guess that answers that part...

It has been T n T to Stratford in the past, also in the past it has been Chimney first to Stratford (rare on the North Warwick) and Bunker first to Worcester, so they are right way up the Lickey without turning.

I think it's T n T because it comes off the platform at Tyseley towards Birmingham and then changes direction for S-u-A.

cannot wait to go and video these panniers climb the Lickey. just heard both engines work hard will be quite a sight.

can someone tell me where the best spot to video the panniers go up the lickey please?

im guessing the old bromsgrove station is now out of bounds, any good lineside spots. i have car so can access most areas.. and im guessing it will be quite busy with enthusastis too.

Pikes Pool and Vigo Crossing are the main spots on the Lickey, it will almost certainly be dark by the time they get there mind so unless your just after the soundtrack I'd be looking at a well lit station for phots or video.

    Times now on U.K. steam.

    http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t16/t1112a.htm

T'n't to Stratford then double headed thereafter. Really looking forward to this, three of us heading up from London in the wee hours to join at tyseley.

First mainline tour for me after a break of a few years due to all the going on's in the mainline steam operations which has put me off booking other tours.

Coach d is beckoning for Saturday

Great photos. You can almost smell the new paint! Question. Surely these tank locomotives weren't built with copper cap chimneys. Am I right? Surely these were endowed on Castles, Kings, Halls, Granges, Manors and Counties!

I believe the 9400's had them, as did the 2251 class which were pretty similar but of a tender varient

Really looking forward to seeing some fireworks up the Lickey tonight. Fingers cross the rain stops as this will prove a tough test for the 2 tank engines..

Still unsure of where to watch them? I guess the lickey will be packed with enthusiats despite being dark

If 9600 is knackered there's no way they can get up the hill to Wilmcote with one engine.

How many coaches could one engine take to compete the tour? Just curious.
