I noticed the other day that the 04 shunter was having some major work done at Minehead. Would be nice to see her back in use on the railway again.

Apologies if I have missed it, but is there any information about the 2017 Spring Steam Gala please? I would like to book my accommodation but it's a bit tricky when I don't know the dates!! Thanks in advance.

The 03 has a new engine and is being got ready for return to service. Its old engine will then be put in the 04 and also returned to service.

Am I right to assume that the engine from the 03 will be overhauled before instalation inthe 04

AIUI the engine is not having any major work done to it before going into the 04.
The engine going into the 03 has been fully overhauled.

Cant quite see the logic. If the engine in the 03 is suitable for furthur service why not put the new engine in the 04 and save time and effort in not doing the double swap

After a clampdown by the authorities at a nearby thread, the denizens of this one should expect an influx of refugees seeking a new home.....

Perhaps the rest of 03 is in better condition than 04?

Oh well....... I enjoyed this thread but if it gets taken over by the refugees then it will be a thread to put on the ignore list

I don't think there is any real danger of this happening. We now have a fully elected board. The communications with members (and indeed non-members) via the WSRA web site could hardly be more open. There are also clear mechanisms for members to raise concerns with the trustees either jointly or individually (any member can feel free to PM me here as well).
But lets follow the lead set by the mods and keep our discussion here to interesting things happening on the WSR.

This topic name should have the word "operation" removed as it covers all areas again.

I see Andy Forster is due to retire at the end of next month, is there a sucsessor or will the post be advertised? Also as I asked in an earlier post what are the plans for the Station Farm site next to BL station?
